Bare Knuckle Nantucket HSP90.

Made in England.

+1 on this, or the Mississippi Queen by BKP. Top notch vintage Gibson tones with fantastic harmonic overtones that sound great clean and distort nicely. Ain’t cheap but they’re really quite amazing sounding.

I have tried a few, in search of that authentic P90 tone. If I had the money, I would like a pair of Fralin's, but bought a SD Phat Cat and like it very much.

Tried a Tonerider Rebel 90 neck....it was OK. Actually sounded better in the bridge. Did not mix well with the Phat cat I had....so....replaced it with another Phat cat. Happy with the Phat Cats.

Did try a set of P-rails...they were good...but....like the Phat cats more because I do not need all those combinations.

I agree with your assessment of the Rebel 90. As for the P-Rails, if you just compared the P-Rail P90 vs the Phat Cat and ignored other combinations, what would be your verdict? I've been interested in P-Rails but worried that it might be a jack of all trades and master of none. but if the P90 was up to scratch I'd consider it just for that.

I did not have the opportunity to compare the P-rails with the Phat cat. I wonder if there is a vid on youtube?

P-rails do have a big following. There are vids comparing them to HB's and maybe some soapbars. Other vids comparing Phat cats...so...maybe that is one way of assessing.

I have a few guitars. For my next build, I just want P90's, but do need them in HB format....so....I personally am going with Phat cats. If Fralin's were the same price, I would try them. But, the phat cats seems to do it. I have compared them directly with SC's and HB's and they are definitely in between (as they should be)....if that says anything.

The main drivers of the decision for my next build are cost, the need for HB size and a desire for pure P90's.

Hope this helps.

I have/had the P-rails in a Melody Maker -also have/had SD Vintage P90s in my Flaxwood Leikki. I now have Lace Alumitone P90s in the Flaxwood. Purely because in one venue my band does, chainsaws.

The P-Rails is a SD Vintage P90 and a great sounding one. Switched to that mode, it's a nice, fat, snarling dawg of a pickup. Sounds damn near a genuine Gibson.

I also like the single coil rail by itself, which is sort of a bit lipsticky and middy. That's definitely it's own sound and a good one, very usable and a bit more grunty than a Strat or Tele standard single coil.

The humbucker position is also good, but not really like a PAF or other traditional. humbucker It's fat though, in parallel winding. Series, I think it'd be moonshot hot.

I'm putting a Mean 90 in the bridge of this

I tried a GFS "goldfoil" and it was kind of cool, and certainly fitting in respects, but I didn't like the output balance with the other pickups.
