Not being able to leave well enough alone, I snagged a used set of Gibson p90s off of Reverb to throw in my Fender Offset (which has Japanese P90 soapbars in it). I didn’t notice until after I bought them that this specific pair came from a LP Traditional from 2012 with the ability to tap the coils.

Can these pickups be wired in standard configuration on the offset? Would I just end up taping or grounding the wire for tapping the p90?

Sure, no problem at all using them like normal p90s.

I don't know these pickups, how many wires are there com each pickup?

Note: I don’t actually have the pickups yet, but here’s a picture from the listing

In short, you are correct. The tap is just a wire that you will not use. Identify it and tape it off.

Can you measure the dcr from the bare wire to the other three?

These sound interesting, I'd be tempted to wire them so you could tap them.... I imagine it may switch them between a 'hot-rodded' sound and a 'vintage' sound.... which would be pretty cool I think.

Same colors as Seymour Duncan. If Gibson uses the same color scheme, solder the red and white together and tape. The black will be the hot while the green and bare are grounds.

Are you sure these aren't P100's?

You may want to take a cover off to make sure they are P90's and not the P100's.

I hate letting a good tap go to waste...

"Are you sure these aren't P100's?"

I think the "P-90 tapL" sticker might be a cleverly disguised clue...for those sharp enough to catch the implication.

But what would you tap in a P-90? They're single coil by definition.

Oh man, I would totally hook that up with a push pull knob. You don't have to use it.

Just wondering why anyone would tap a P90?
