OK so putting a tele together with a cavalier lion for the bridge and a p90 soapbar for the neck, but i don't know which p90. Narrowed it down to a Gibson p90 or a SD Antiquities p90.

Anyone with opinions or experience with either of these?

I’ve played both but not in the same guitar. Both are good but I strongly prefer the Antiquities. Antiquities use A2 magnets in addition to other differences. It’s a good sound.

I prefer the Gibson. I generally like SD pickups but not the P90. Just don't have the clarity or growl the Gibsons do to my ears.

I had a '90s Hamer with SD P90s in it. They were spectacular.

I would always go for the lowest wound model. You can add dirt but you can't add clean.....

I have Onlymusic Vintage Repro’s in a partscaster I built about five years ago.
Neck is 8k bridge is 9.5k. 500k pots, .033 cap.
Treble Bleed Circuit .001 cap, 150k resistor
I really like the neck with the volume at about 50%.
I rarely use the bridge pick up.
With neck volume on about 50% it is very fat and clean on 80% it’s very fat and gnarly.
These were $40 each, I’d recommend them if you’re looking for what I described.

I can't really comment on a "contemporary" Gibson pickup, but I know there's NOTHING better than the P-90 in my 1960 doublecut LP Jr. That's the one that all other P-90's get compared to in my book. That said, when I got my made in 2009 PRS SE One, the P-90 in it sounds great, and compares very favorably to my 59 year old one.
If I were buying one today, I'd check with Ryan at Bootstrap Pickups, or Rob at Cavalier.....both members here and both super-nice guys.

+1 for the Gibson P90. I got some S/hand pulled from a Les Paul 50's Tribute and they sound classic, really good. Gnarly but clean, if that makes sense. Woody mid-range.[That definitely makes no sense]

I have had both (in the neck position) and they are both great. The Antiquity was sweeter and less grindy. Depends on what you want, you would probably be happy with either.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel P90 dogears would be a hit.
