Dave Torbert (1948 - 1982). Played bass with The New Riders Of The Purple Sage, and Kingfish. Also played bass on "Box Of Rain" from The Dead's 1970 "American Beauty", and "Greatest Story Ever Told" from Bob Weir's 1972 album "Ace".

Dave was "instrumental" in my approach to electric bass. Thanks Dave!

Sarah Brown, the great bassist from the 80’s/90’s Antone’s House Band. If I could emulate any bassist, she would be high on the list.

Dusty Hill doesn’t get as much credit as he deserves, IMHO. He was a fabulous bassist.

Jimmy Pettit, of Joe Ely’s rock band anchored that group very well.

Calvin “Fuzz” Jones, of Muddy Waters’ band.

…and Nathan East, who’s played with Eric Clapton and a million others.

Joe Osborn -- probably played on more Top 40 pop and country chart hits than any other bassist; also discovered The Carpenters.

Henry Strzelecki, who, in addition to being an ace Nashville session bassist for many years, wrote Long Tall Texan when he was a teenager.

Yes, she do! My favorite Tina line...grooves like Motown.

Adrien Belew posted a photo of Tina and Chris showing up at a gig during the tour he (Belew) and Jerry Harrison are on- he quoted her as answering the "How do you play those bass lines?" by saying "You just do it". Her playing just fits the songs.

Dennis Dunaway-Alice Cooper Band
Mel Schacher-Grand Funk The only band to sell Shea faster than the Beatles.
Frank Bello-Anthrax

Gene Simmons and Roger Waters are great bassists that might not be thought of as bassists as much as cultural figures.
