This is a short clip of my Kirn tele using a Tumnus mini and Spark boost into the gain channel of my Rivera.

Here it is on the clean channel with a Tumnus mini and Spark boost.

I didn’t watch the video, but I chose a GT-OD over a TS9 based on a video once and when I got it, it sounded nothing like the video. I didn’t really investigate any, but after I got rid of it I found out there are switches inside to change it up. I’ve tried a few other MXR OD’s since then. Have yet to find one I like.

The Wampler Mini Tumnus or the Greer Southland are two to check out.

Thank goodness you said at least seven. I was worried I would have to sell a few of mine.

If we're talking about only using a single OD pedal, two of my current favourites are the Digitech Bad Monkey and Wampler Euphoria. Don't get me started on the possibilities available once you start stacking multiple pedals . . .

When they are played by the folks in the video.

Thinking of through ones that I have played through, Tumnus, Keeley Red Dirt, OCD, Timmy, Keeley D&M, Blackstone Appliances, FullDrive (1 and 3), Jacques Overtube, BD-2 (stock and modified), RevialDrive (compact) and KTR all sound great with the right amp and settings. Of course I like all of them with a Strat as well (with the right settings). Some sound greater than others, but none are bad.

    Bloody overdrive pedals.
I spent ages settling on one, and chose a boss bd 2. Then I missed having a tubescreamer type so I got a joyo vintage overdrive but now I want an sd1.

Tom Morello doesn’t need a distortion pedal because he plays through a Marshall 2205 head. That gain channel IS his sound.

I recently went on an OD hunt. I’ve used about every one of them at one time or another, it was just a matter of revisiting them. I gave myself a $50 limit. I ended up with a Boss SD1, and I’m super happy.

Just curious, do you still have the BD-2? How's your mileage with it been?

That's the point, sometimes you don't need an OD pedal.

Of the 3 you mentioned I’d go with Boss OD-3. EQ profile that doesn’t cut out all the lows, but can still get bright enough to cut through. Sounds great for low and high gain.

    And, yeah, RAT

I've actually worked myself down to four OD/Distortion/Dirt/Whatever: BD-2, DS-1, OCD, & Rat.

the only od pedal i use on anything approaching a regular basis is my danelectro timmy clone.

i have a bad monkey but never got on with it, outside of wondering why more pedals don't have distinct treble and bass controls.

i love it. middle position on the tele and everything at noon on the pedal gives me everything i need - it's an always on pedal for me. if i'm honest i don't need another overdrive pedal - if i want to change the flavour i'd be better off using an eq. but you know how it is - bloody overdrive pedals..

I like my fulltone OCD if I have to use one. good variety, and can get just on the edge of drive easily.
