I grew up about 20 minutes away from her and have followed her since she was a backup singer for Michael Jackson. Huge fan!

Thanks for this. I really enjoy Peter Stroud and Audley Freed's playing. They combine so well. Fine collection of guitars they have too - always on the money.

A steel guitar engagment.
Back in June of this year a good friend and sax playing concert going buddy bought me a ticket for the Outlaw Tour at Hershey Park Stadium for Sunday 9/10. First band was at 3pm but I didn't leave home until 4:30 or so and found my seat along with my friend and his wife about 10 minutes before, Sheryl Crow who I was most interested in seeing, started playing. First off, whoever was running the sound hit it way out of the park. Maybe the best I've heard, especially seeing that it was outdoors. Her and her band were tight like they've been playing together as long as the Stones yet still had that touch of looseness that IMO defines a good rock&roll band. By the end of the first song I already felt like a jackass for bitching to my buddy about going to a stadium show and having to deal with ten-thousand other people, hard metal bleachers etc. Hate to admit it but I'd probably do it again.
Van Morrison was up next and though I've been hearing Brown eyed girl and Moondance for 40 or more years I 'm really not familiar with all that he's done. Him and his band which was also tight as hell played his hits and also busted out four or five good blues tunes where he sat the sax down and played harp. What was cool and gave me the shivers was when five thousand or so people all sang along "ooh ooh ooh wee, wild night is callin' " throughout the entire song.
Hate to admit but I took off right before Willie Nelson started but it was getting cold and my ass lost the battle with the aluminum bleachers but I did get to hear Whiskey River on my way to the truck. Not sure but even though I'm a sixty year old coot I might have just one more stadium show in me. Maybe.

Saw a good interview of Crow by Charlie Rose on TV the other night. She's taken some detours I didn't agree with (Lance Armstrong, when he was still married I think?), but is raising kids, is grounded, and is a great musician.
