I've got a Feb. of 1965 Deluxe Reverb that I've had about 10 years.
I was very stoked when I first got it. Did a cap job, 3 prong conversion, replaced a few drifted resistors, got it in great shape. Played it a lot for 4-5 years.
Then I fell in love with Brownface amps. Got an original 1962 Deluxe, and built a clone Princeton.
Haven't played the Blackface Deluxe much the last 5 years, just occasionally to keep the caps formed.
Woke up early this morning and pulled the Blackface out of the closet. Played it about 2 hours and it sounds great, hard to believe it's 54 years old. Think I'll keep it out awhile.

Probably the BEST all-round amp there is.....I SO regret selling one, as well as a 1963 Blackface Deluxe, several years ago......financial issues, 'ya know? :(

I have a similar story. Too many amps. My '67 doesn't seem to get back into rotation. Lately, it's been the 5E3 and a Matchless. I'll fire up the '67 today.

Terrific Amp. I had a original 65 Deluxe back in 65 when I was 14 or 15. Sorry I sold it, but thought I wanted a Bandmaster. Pain in the butt hauling that around. Eventually got rid of that. Went Amp less till my early 30's, got a JC-120 loved it, kicking myself for trading it in on a Precision Bass. Finally came full circle, in 1998 got a 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissue. Love it. Haven't done anything to it, but noticed I get a low pitched squeal when I plug in the footswitch, so it's gonna need some attention.

Tell you what, I'll be glad to keep it regularly rotated. You know, so the caps don't degrade. You've clearly got your hands full with the Brownie. Just let me know where to pick it up!

    Yup. I'm a giver.

There should be a law against amp neglect! Shame on you!

If this ever happens again, we will be forced to place all of your amps in protective custody!

    You have been warned!

I’m down from 10+ amps last year to currently just 4 amps (two BF Fenders and two Marshall’s).

No more amps stashed away in closets. All amps setup in my music room ready to play.

No more trying to find the right setting on an amp that you don’t use often.

I’m happy with all of my current amps and I’m trying hard to maintain my current amp count with keeper amps.

    Less is more sometimes.

I've got a 67 BFDR, nice amp but I definitely have a love/hate relationship with it.
Maybe it's the Sprauge blue atom caps I used before I learned they were expensive crap on the internet?

It's all about the speaker. I just put an Alessandro in my '65 DR.

I'm also contemplating clipping the bright cap. I usually run bass at 8-10 and treble 0-3.

One good BF clean one Marshall dirt, and a 5e3 would work for me. Maybe two of each. It’s good to have backup, right?

I went through a similar phase...switching from blackface to brownface when I got a brownface princeton. I might have to roll out the blackface amps today to get reaquainted.

I've changed speakers in that amp more than any other amp I've owned, JBLs, Webers, Celestions, old Jensen C12N was my favorite, there's a Maverick in it now. Did the bright cap, swapped tubes, and basically screwed around more with this amp than any other.
It ain't bad it's just not my favorite, I like it loud and find it lacking if I can't turn it up, the Maverick helps.
Other amps I can plug into and be fat dumb and happy for hours. The DR just isn't there with me, but does the trick when I play with people.

You can always store it in my closet if you get tired of it. I used to have a '66 that I really miss these days. Sadly at the time I needed the money more then the amp.
