They called us yesterday and said mom was in the transition phase. We visited, she was non-responsive but breathing steady.

Went back this morning and you could hear the labored breathing.

Hospice confirmed she was in the active dying phase.

Went back at lunch and while we were there I said, her breaths are getting further apart. I told Angela she wasn't going to last the night. We were planning on going back with Russ (he is on his way up from Austin) later this afternoon.

Just got the call that she has passed.

This is a good thing. Her long fight is over.

We did all the pre-planning for what comes next. So no jumping through hoops for that. Just spending time with the family and remembering the woman we all loved.

I was at my mother's beside when she passed. Losing a mother for most but not all is losing the only person in the world who loves you when you're right, and when you're wrong to boot. You can't buy that. My condolences, from ours to yours.

My condolences, it's a terrible, terrible, disease.
I lost my "partner" at age 59, she was a strong brilliant and beautiful lady.
When I hear that disease's name, I get sad.

We went though the same with my Mom. Condolences, but yes it's actually a blessing. It's awful when our loved ones leave us before they pass.

Condolences and sympathies. FWIW, I'm glad that you could convey this. Reaching out and leaning on kindness is crucial at such times. Take good care of yourself, partly so you can take good care of grieving others....

Ní bheidh a leithéid arís ann. (Her like will not be seen again) - an Irish blessing
