All you need's a good story for that ding. "I threw it in the air after a blistering solo but didn't quite catch it." Or "I used it to bludgeon a home invader to death to save the life of my girlfriend and unborn child."

Consensus seems to be to leave it, so let me go with the minority and suggest a possible means of repair.

A little pigment and some cyanoacrylate glue, aka super glue if applied patiently and judiciously will come out looking fine.

Check out this clip from Dan Erlewine on you tube - Fixing a small chip in a guitar finish:

    Good luck.

Badda Bing! Maybe color it in with a dark marker to make it less stark...

The question is how do you feel about it? In time you really will forget about it. You may be able to cover up or it could look worst. It is up to how much it bothers you

Just have a pretty girl give it a bright red lipstick kiss next to the ding and know it is well loved.

I had one that didn't quite chip off so I threw on some clear nail hardener and then buffed it down a little so it wouldn't get worse.

I stripped the poly off my MIM Tele. The ding kept growing and chipping. I got out the heat gun, stripped it, and put some automotive lacquer on it (similar to Lake Placid Blue.) That paint wore in a more attractive manner than the black polyester.

I don't know ... you've got half the world's guitarists striving for the relic look, spending extra buying unconvincingly weathered instruments, then the other half getting upset at tiny chips in the finish which really do constitute genuine wear and character.

That's a cool looking ding there. It looks like an authentic bar band tele now! Be proud!

Duct tape can look quite cool on guitars, but it has to be doing a job.

I use it to stop my strap falling off.

Wait...is that authentic relicing? Or artificial because it's accelerated damage?

I thought you just had to get wear from years of playing, else you risk being sneered at by the relic police?

I don't know where the line is!
