I can see how some folks may hate the '70's pop era Steve Miller. But he knew how to do this stuff. (I even like the dreadful " Abracadabra" for some weird reason)

But our brewpub/winery gig 'demographic' are baby-boomers just like me, and I wanna do music ( that I like/ is musically interesting) to keep them happy! So always thinking of ideas...
Keep the gigs, and have fun with the music.

"Took my chances on a big jet plane.
Never let 'em tell ya that they're all the same.
Oh, the sea was red and the sky was grey,
I wonder how tomorrow could ever follow today"

"8:05" by Moby Grape is about leaving on a bus, a train or a plane but also a real tear jerker!

BTW John Denver's "Jet Plane" was popular when I was going off to Navy boot camp 10/69...Oh the memories!

By now I know you're 30, 000 feet above me
But a million miles away, a million miles away
By now I know I oughta act like you don't love me
But I'm just sittin' out here watching airplanes
    Take off and fly

Drain the veins in my head
Clean out the red in my eyes to get by security lines
    Dear X-ray machine
Pretend you don't know me so well
I won't tell if you lied

but Jet Airliner is NOT a Steve Miller song. he recorded it cuz Paul Pena was stuck in a horrible deal:

&, y'know who Steve Miller's godfather is? Les Paul.

    It certainly is.
I mean, he may not have written it.
But "Hound Dog" is an Elvis song, and "Big Ol' Jet Aih-ha-LAHner" is a Steve Miller song. :)

(also, does no one read anymore? Back in the USSR has been posted AT LEAST three times already)

ordinarily, i'd haggle, BUT . . . in this case, the resulting song is SO different, yeah, it did become a Steve Miller song.

other Steve Miller trivia: 2 classes away from being UW-Madison English grad.

from wikiP: In 1966, he formed the Steve Miller Band (at first called The Steve Miller Blues Band), with Miller handling vocals. They backed Chuck Berry on his Live at Fillmore Auditorium album released that year.
