Well of course. I'm surprised acousticguitarforum has not been mentioned.
thing with me is that I only become active in a guitar forum if I have that said guitar..
I used to be super active in Gretsch-Talk when I had a Gretsch G5420T, Squier-talk when I had a Squier Standard/Classic Vibe, then Strat-talk when i had a few strats.. once the guitars go, I become inactive..
but TDPRI seem to be the only place I go to, with or without teles.. however, I am deliberately ambiguous as to whether or not I posses a telecaster now...
and oh, I'm on TheGearPage as well.. I mostly post in one thread there anyway..
Oh man, that's relatable.
Given up with ST, although there are some nice members there, there are also some very unfriendly ones too.
Yeah, I hate gratuitous sax.
It's very quiet there. And picky.
Are these jokes working?
I note that whilst the good folks are over at the LP forum...........................................you're still here!
It is, and most of the posts are just, well, hollow.
I get along with these cats pretty well.
I do also visit Strat-Talk and the My Les Paul forum, but the chemistry isn't there.
All in all, I do enjoy tdpri.com, a lot.
You guys are cheerful and generally accommodating.
And you put up with my bad poetry and corny limericks.
This'll do me. I even like some of the people here I've never met nor probably will. A great place to learn, get differing opinions and contribute occasionally. My kinda town!
I seem to recall a few "grammer police" posts here and I must admit I do enjoy them.
I mentioned as unmentionable...snobby.
Quiet? You should take a look at Acoustic Heaven here on TDPRI.
Yep. Most there do pick ... and/or strum.
Not a lot of acoustic guitar forum action that I can find. TGP acoustic section is pretty slow. Acousticguitarforum.com has traffic but the software is ancient, you don't even know when you've been quoted. Unofficialmartinguitarforum.com is pretty good, but it's Martin centric.
Social media really has been sort of a death knell for many of the old school discussion boards like this one. Facebook groups have taken over. Personally, I don't care for FB groups for topic discussion. I prefer the organization and layout of a message board.
I used to post a lot over at SDUGF. It's still active but a shadow of what it was 10 years ago.
TDPRI is pretty good and has a lot of traffic. The tone here is generally pretty open and friendly.
There's a Canadian forum called Guitars Canada and it's pretty good.
A few years ago I joined the Tapatalk/Blueridge Guitar Forum as I own a Blueridge, and love it.
It is still technically active, but boy it is just dead! - just no threads ( there are sub-forums too), very stagnant.
Just not enough interest.
I had not been there in months, but because of this thread here, I thought I'd respond to someone's question about BR necks. Just to see if anyone was around
Nothing so far...
The forums that are all but dead are the ones that allowed certain members to become the favorite sons and insiders. That can only happen with the tacit approval of the forum operator. I've seen it happen in a few places, and for awhile those folks have a grand old time picking on unsuspecting posters with their pack mentality, then applauding each other for their cleverness. You can't keep a forum alive with while allowing that kind of behavior. It never happened to me personally, but I could never stand to see it happening to others.
In addition to here, I go to AGF, which has more than enough good people to counterbalance the snobs, and TGP, which has more bickering and craziness but a huge membership and lots of good people too.
Yeah the most traffic by far is TGP. Probably bickering too.
I don’t know if other forums are dead or just unnecessary. I have a Telecaster, two Strats, an SG, an Annie, a tube amp, and an acoustic. I play a variety of types of music. It’s all here. Bikes and bicycles. It’s all here. Oddball physics posts and explanations by real engineers. All here. Sports, wives, ex wives, IT support. All that and more are here every day. All that in a non hostile forum. The moderators are fair, even to members like me who sometimes walk close to the edge. I’ve joined other forums but can’t remember my username or password. I’m retired but I don’t have unlimited time. I can’t waste it elsewhere and don’t feel like I’m wasting it here.
Telecasters and acoustics.... you’re saying there are other guitars than these!?!
