Hasn't anyone over here tried the Acoustic Guitar Forum? There is a pretty comfy atmosphere over there. They've always emphasized their "Be Nice" rule. They've got some pretty esoteric discussions but they are very newbie friendly as well. I used to be on staff over there.

I was on EverythingSG over most of winter '19/'20 while working on an SG project, it was pretty active, most everyone was cool and helpful to each other, off-topics were fine, it was a lot like here really ... I jumped off only toward keeping my daily online time contained, but enjoyed it while I was there.

Yes, I was a member there back in the early 2010s. Great forum, nice helpful membership, just like you recall. I only left really because I felt like I would stand out like a sore thumb, because I sold my SGs. If I ever get another, I'm back there....I know I'm fickle etc....:p

Shortscale.org is the same. You can return months later to find your last post on the same page.

Tried to join there once, never even got a response, nor acknowledgement of any kind of membership acceptance, so basically gave up.

I like TGP, but I use the ignore button liberally. Quite a lot of Van Halen wannabes over there.

This place is okay, but way too much Bad Dog Cafe content seeps onto the main page.

There was a great SG forum called House of Horns that went belly upSeveral years ago. There were quite a few jerks there towards the end.

I ended up at the Les Paul forum and got booted for making fun of the boyfriend of a soon to be (now deceased) owner. I Spose I overstepped the boundaries

A bunch of us (booted from LPF) ended up at a place that was freewheeling but with little to no moderation. Soon the bullies and axeholes drove the good people out and it now is barely a shadow of its former self.

I re-upped at the LPF and have found some great info regarding LPs. It is pretty slow though

I come here more often than not. I mainly hang out here because the Bad Dog fits me better

Even a professional forum I used heavily when I formed my company is pretty dead. Great information and help but I outgrew it and it has declined. I only drop in occasionally but it’s become a wasteland

I tried out some Facebook groups and was amazed at the amount of “forum-like” qualities it had. In the end it was still Facebook so it got quite ridiculous for me. I’m more selective now.

I used to hang out at StratTalk until Daniel Boone and his cronies abused me and threatened me with physical violence when I said I didn't like my Tweed Deluxe 5E3.

They recently emailed me asking for support to keep the forum up n running. <delete>

I have few issues at ST although I was suspended once for mentioning a politician’s name in connection with Woodstock.
Similar to here there are lots of smart, funny people IMHO.

My only issue with this place is the approval of chatter re. Guns, knives, killing deer with bows, etc.

I just ingnore those threads now, but still sad that it is allowed.

Just IMO. I know some ppl are really into that stuff so I'm cool to just ingnore it.

I have a special button on my computer that is for global ignore.
The idea is it is easier to ignore everyone and then make exceptions for those who are not on fire.
In the past (~20 years ago) I hung out mostly at UMGF, and a little bit at the Acoustic Guitar Forum.
Then I got an electric (again) and the acoustics were sold
I see a lot of similarities among our regular posters, or maybe the mods do a good job knocking off the rough edges of forum participants.
