Are you saying you have to go deep to find the baritone forum?
I know this sounds petty, but whenTGP changed their graphics on their home pages, just the way things look, they lost me!
I'm just happy right here
Truth be told I don't spend much time on the Guitar forum at GS anymore since I joined TDPRI although I still regularly check out the electronic instrument and computer forums. It sounds like it's gotten worse since I used to be there regularly. I really appreciate the tighter moderation of TDPRI in maintaining the civility of this forum.
This. I'm newish to guitar but not to forums. The regular posters here are thoughtful and respectful. Plenty of opinion and information without being overwhelming. Just enough edge to keep it light and fun without being stupid or crass (mostly).
I have an account at TGP but only post or even read over there very infrequently. I'm here a lot and it just feels comfy.
I think the Tele attracts a higher quality of guitarist.
So It's you !
If you want to see real trolling spend a day or so on 'Talk About the Falcons' board. I can only take it once in a while.
It's a long story. Longer than standard. Won't bore you with how stretched out it gets. It's a whole different scale, I've heard.
Tell me the whole story, from A to A. Or B to B.
I can only say that once you get one of those B to B guys going, they just won't stop, with a djent djent here and djent djent there, it's death by a thousand cuts!
Yep the one that was quite political (one way) and lots of gun talk closed last year, after years of belly-aching by the host. One of the reasonable contributors opened it up again but it's pretty weak.
I've been on several other forums mentioned here, and also the Jazz Guitar forum, which I enjoy. I like the people and the conversation here most of all.
I think I might know which forum you're talking about. I don't know that it was all that political, but there was a lot of gun talk. I wouldn't use the words "pretty weak" to describe the one opened up by a former contributor, but there is not as much activity (new threads started daily) in 2021 as there was in 2020.
But that's only if they're the forums I think you're talking about. I was a member of the defunct one for 19 or 20 years.
When I found the TDPRI I was impressed with the level of activity here.
Reddit is the 19th most popular site on the internet. 90% of the time I end up going there for guitar related discussion and pics.
"Falcons"?.........those cheap little Ford's from the early 60's?
Reddit Guitar is active. Generally a pretty decent forum. It tends to skew beginner-ish. Terrible, hair-trigger moderators, though. I got banned from posting there because I made a newb mistake of incorrectly formatting a topic title and then got aggressively smart-assed to by the mod when I enquired as to what I did wrong. I lurk there occasionally, though, and good topics come up regularly.
I learned to drive in one of those... I felt it was huge!
Anyway, I second the earlier talkbass comment, active, civil and informative. That’s where I learnt the answer to most questions in life is “carrotts”.
I found the jazz forum a little too free flowing..... however when a thread anchored, it just went on forever.... I could not resist a jab at jazz.
I'm on here and Squier Talk. Was on Strat Talk a lot, and TGP not very much. I like it best here, great bunch, full of fun and information. The one place I did get snarky comments from, was Offset Guitar Forum, or whatever it is. Can't be bothered by such highbrow shenanigans.
18Watt.com and the Watkins family of forums ,SE Watt,PP Watt etc. was a great amp building forum 15 years ago. Lots of knowledgeable and helpful people there. I’m not sure what happened to it. You had to be a member to get in. About 10 years ago I got locked out. I’m not sure if I forgot my password or what but I could never get any response from the moderators to reset my password.
Yes but Reddit was bigger when FB and IG etc. were not as big as they are now.
