Embracing a little more acoustic guitar playing I branched out a little and revisited other guitar forums. Mostly acoustic guitar centric

Without naming names most of them are relatively dead compared to TDPRI.

There can be days ,even weeks, between posts! It's quite amazing! Some of these I was very active in and you could count on people diving in within minutes.

I would have thought with lock down and many more people working from home there'd be an up tick in forum participation but the opposite is evident. I even see many of the same popular names and they're still active but on a lesser scale for sure.

Some I was very active in just a couple years ago.

Is TDPRI THE go to guitar information forum? I think so!

The Gear Page is more active than this one but I like it here a lot better. Less bickering.

An acoustic forum I go to can get a tad snobby.

Not quite the same but there's a fairly active guitar subform at Gearspace (f/k/a Gearslutz) with some knowledgeable posters. It's a great forum in general for music and recording gear overall although it sometimes gets a bit more contentious due to more lenient forum moderating.

If you like being called a rude name, by a mod, in a thread, because you corrected their incorrect technical information.

I came here from the ReRanch forum. For a while it was a lot of fun and featured a very colorful cast of regulars, but it's a ghost town now.

There’s a baritone forum. Really. Good luck finding it.

I used to frequent a Rickenbacker forum, but it got way too insular and snobby so I quit visiting. I think it's down to a trickle of posts per day.

    :lol::lol:
I only ever meandered over to the Unofficial Martin forum, and only when looking for specific info. Different crew over there. Not quite like the community here. Most of those members are into high end Martin's so unless you're one of those people, there's not a lot there, IMHO. Still, what ever questions I had, were generally answered.

The Les Paul forum, is "thin", though there is good info available on historics, and the custom shop reissue series. No one ever discusses other guitars. It's totally Gibson. The Gear Page, well, I'll just leave that alone.

I think to some extend social media took over what forums like these did in the past. I think the same thing happened to Reddit for instance, which is also a lot smaller than it used to be.

They’re dead to me. I’ve only posted here for about a year or two now.

    The folks are cooler here.

I bailed from MLP years ago, when they decided that politics in any thread was A-OK. Never went back.

    That's how/when I ended up here.

Yeah...best to just avoid the talk. But there are some highly qualified opinions over there on guitar mods, pickups, live sound.
