I had something I wanted to get rid of, and no takers on Craigs List, so today I threw it in the car and drove over to GC. Sold it to them- for a decent price ($50 less than I wanted for it, but the convenience was worth it. Then I got some discounts, so I paid $225 for a new MIM Standard Tele, in Lake Placid blue. Should be here at the end of the week. I can't wait to see it and play it.

    Congrats!

When it comes in, try to make sure their guitar tech is on duty at the time you pick it up, and give it a good once over before leaving the store.

I used to have strong opinions about what color guitars should be. In my mind, SG's and ES335's still need to be cherry red polished to a high gloss. Fender is changing my mind. I love Fender's solid colors. My Telecaster is candy apple red. I thought my Strat was pewter but a tech showed me the Fender CS color chart and insisted it's really black pearl. I see so many cool colors that it's hard to know what I like best. Lake Placid Blue is one of Fender's best colors. I don't know if it's new or recycled from another era, but it's cool. Enjoy your new guitar.

Sorry, one more opinion. I have to get this off my chest. You can get a beautifully finished guitars in colors you lust for from Fender at any price point. My picnic table is finished better than what brand G is selling for $1000. I don't get it and I have no interest in buying one. My SG is a 2006. It dates from a time when there was pride at Gibson in the product they were turning out. Just sayin'.

If anyone in the US doubts how good your guitar market is, turn 225 usd into gbp and go shopping for a retail MIM in England, whilst I go cry myself to sleep
