    Now the heater wires, the untwisted heater wires :cry: this amp is as quiet as any I've built even with my new hearing aids on 10 (10 the same hearing as an Arctic Wolf ) just a hiss when the amp is maxed out.

    Showing my ignorance... I would have thought the Class Y cap would have been the preferred type. So why a class X?

    I think its because switches are connected to metal chassis and faceplate is metal and part of chassis and mains plug does not have a polarity there is no possibility for shorted capacitor lead mains voltage to chassis?
