I'm gathering parts and ideas for a similar build. I have a pair of Gibson P90S pickups with slug polepieces, the kind they put in their 2014 Melody Makers. I'm adding a 4 way tele switch for series switching and a built in jangelbox compressor.

I just bought a Starfire IV 12 string and I’ve heard bad things about the LB-1 pickups- am I misinformed or should I be thinking on upgrades ???

That's a beauty!
I'd say give it a try, and decide with your own ears.
You could experiment with pickup heigth as well, don't put them too close to the strings.
Are those pickups PAF-sized? The look somewhat between a humbucker and a minihumbucker in size, which may complicate the quest for a drop-in alternative...

I decided to get Bartolini 5PJ set with 4 wires for pickups and that wire harness to split/tap both pickups.

I ordered a kit from Musikding in Germany (I live in Europe). I don't know about similar kits overseas.

Since you've already abandoned the only true correct answer for electric 12 string pickups (strat), I'd have to go with firebird for runner up.

I have GFS Memphis in mine and they sound awesome.

Duncan Vintage Firebird. Sound great in my Hagstrom 12string.

That's good to know! I'm about to wire up a 12-string with GFS Liverpools, which looks similar to the Memphis, but a bit hotter and warmer. If my pickguard ever gets here...
