Wow. What fun. Just discovering this for the first time.
Found a few instructionals for this and wow. That's really fun, once I figured out what his tuning was. Had me stymied for a while, then I found this video. Nicely done....:D

This is my first "tuning". I'm a total neubie to it.
I messed with drop D for about 2 hours about 2 years ago (Randy Houser - Whistling Dixie), that was it.
And the finger picking too. I'm just beginning to learn.
Blazing new trails here.

There's a whole bunch of Stone songs that will fall into place now. All those songs that never quite sounded right. They just got easy.

Then you'll start hearing that tuning in a whole bunch of songs.

Oh, and don't forget to get your slide out.

I remember years ago I saw in a guitar magazine that HTW was in open G. No tabs, but they did give the tuning for each string. I tuned my SG to open G and actually figured the song out by myself. One of the proudest moments of my guitar playing life. Now You Tube makes it much easier, although maybe not as satisfying.

I would never take off the low D string! It's great to have for turn-arounds in the key of G, and for alternate bass note playing. I think Keef just did it so he wouldn't mess up and hit it when he wasn't supposed to.
