Good stuff! I've been trying to learn more things to do in open G and that gives me some ideas. Black Matie has an RL Burnside groove to it. Thanks!.

Nice!

but I'm slightly confused with the
"Open G fun. Open G# , but i play in D# ."
part. ???
I am tuned to a open G , but for the guitar to live there its not good for the neck or frets so i tune to G#.

100 % of songs in open tuning are in same key as the tuning , but i play a blues in D on a G tuned guitar.

I’ve switched to playing only in Open G recently.

I like relearning to play but with the manual dexterity already in place.

Also, ditched the pick and playing finger style only.

Not trying to learn any songs per se, just hearing my way through playing a groove and improvising some, here and there.

It has been great fun, hours pass quick.

I only stopped playing earlier today because my Mini Spark‘s 3 hour battery life died…

I traditionally did C minor (for example) with a thumb barre. Nobody else in the world likes this, from what I can tell.

5middleG (fifth)
4indexEb (minor third)
5thumbC (root)
5thumbG (fifth)
5thumbC (root)
xget rid of this string

When I switched from my skinny neck Mustang, that didn't work anymore. Now I mostly do it like your first example. The seventh is optional but usually sounds good.

8Bb (seventh) optional
8G (fifth)
8Eb (minor third)
5G (fifth)
5C (root)
x

There is a nice easy open chord for E minor:

0D (seventh) optional
0B (fifth)
0G (minor third)
9B (fifth)
9E (root)
x
