The acoustic definitely sounds like standard tuning. I would not think a song in Am would be very easy out of open D tuning. I think this one is standard all the way.

No idea what the tuning is, but I love anders, and this song is great!

Thanks I found this, this may have got me thinking about open D It looked like he was holding some different forms for the tones he was getting.

It got me confused.

Sometimes I have trouble picking out partial cords when there is a fuzz type tone going on. I thought I could hear C,and maybe Dm.

Ive been playing a while,my theory could be better. I had viral encephalitis a few years ago, since then I have some trouble with my hearing, and thinking, Sometimes it seems like things all blend together.

I could pick some things out with this one. But some of the distorted guitar parts give me some trouble sometimes.

In the key of Am, would the other cords in this key be in no order C,Dm,F,G,Em? Not all in the song but in the key?

I just started listening to him the day that I saw that link from The NO Jazz and Heritage fest on TV. I was not even near the TV. When I heard him I looked up some of his Music.

Any help would be appreciated. Since I got sick sometimes I feel like im in a fog. Its no an excuse not to try to figure things out. When I do I can retain it most of the time.

I see him playing standard tuning in that video...no question....just a bit of an odd fingering on the G...

He seems to be playing some form of Am, G, F, Am, G

It is a common fingering used on a G chord... the little finger is on the 3rd fret of the B string and muting the E string.

Thanks guys for helping me get back on track. I learned one of his previous songs that had some slide parts that was in an open tuning. I guess I got stuck on that. I feel stupid now that I went back listened, watched, and listened again.

Sometimes when Im have a ruff time of it since I had the viral encephalitis I just stop playing until I feel better. This time im glad I ask.

No need to feel stupid. We're all in this guitar quest together. Ask anything. If we know it, we'll tell it.

Just to confuse the issue slightly (!) could it be a dropped D tuning he's using with the high E dropped to D?

The live clip does sound a lot like Neil Young and he uses dropped D on some songs.

I haven't tried to play along to this so I'm not sure but it was just something that occurred to me while I was watching the clip.

Like the song. I agree with previous post, sounds like a lot of Neil Young influence. Vocals sound like Joe Walsh (kinda')
