I bought couple rock maple logs with flame or tiger effect for making tops and necks. All have drying process and some lumbers are ready for work. I found couple wood parts with not perfect pattern. It can be classified AAA in thickness 3/4”+
What can I do in this case? Which way is better? Make one piece LP arch top or two bookmatched Tele tops in standard thickness (8mm)? I’ll try to show one of them. It was tinted for better view but it looks better in real.
thanks everyone for your opinion.

Make the Les Paul. Flamed Teles don't do it for me. But LPs, hecks yah.
Sure. we are used to seeing this pattern on LP/PRS but I use it in darker tones on the Tele-style body. And it looks not bad.

A one piece figured LP top will always look classy. A one piece violin or viola back is a big deal.

IMO book matched looks better. Flame is usually inconsistent across a wide board. If you cut in half and book match, I think, you get more for your money as it seems to make more flame. Very few guitar tops are one piece, which if you are used to looking at guitar tops then a single piece looks a little strange.

Cheers Peter.
