You're in good company with Rolling Stone I suppose.

Chumbawumba, Wild Cherry, Kung fu Fighting. All these send me RUNNING OFF the Holiday Inn ballroom dance floor at any wedding.

I agree with Spirit in the Sky, but Dr. and the Medics wore it better, IMHO.

Rolling Stone is right on with Blind Melon. They were a phenomenal band. Their 2nd album Soup got no props, but it's just fantastic rock song writing and playing. A real breath of fresh air to the Oasis hot air balloon of 1995.

some of this obviously depends where you are in the world, Soft Cell not one hit wonders, Dexy's Midnight Runners certainly not one hit wonders here, I suspect that Los Bravos wouldn't have been one hit wonders in Spain. Meanwhile Rita MacNeil definitely a one hit wonder in the UK ( and a very odd one at that) apparently a household name in Canada. Etc,etc, etc.

I remember almost every one of those wonders. I loved just about every one at the time and would like to hear them right now. Nostalgia thread. One hit or not they made history for many people.

this song these guys were forced to record.... the rest of the record is absolutely fantastic.... the band had Tom Leadon, mudcrutch and bernie's bro, Handsome Harry Stinson (session drummer on hundreds of hits and regular drummer for Marty Stuart) John Batdorf (batdorf and rodney) Brent Mydland (grateful dead) and Greg Collier (who plays with bender meister and tdpri member Mur and I think BrianF)

Love "Vehicle"!! My brothers and I frequently opened our gigs with that song back in the 70's !! It got people's attention pretty quickly! I never realized the guitar player/lead vocalist was a cross between John Lennon and John Sebastian! (P.S. I wonder who said, during the production of this video, "Hey, let's show astronauts during the entire guitar solo...")

I had this album and I remember explicitly making sure I was home to see the video when it was broadcast the first time.

ed sanford did a lot of songwriting with bill labounty and mike mcdonald too.. that band was really good too. I got to see them later that year at the Roxy.

this was a minor hit, buzzy feiten and neil larsen (played with Gregg Allman)

saw them several times play this song... man, great tune.

It's pretty much lost to the mists of time at this point, but Ram Jam ("Black Betty") is directly tied to the Lemon Pipers ("Green Tambourine")... another one-hit wonder (mostly).

And I believe The Verve were much bigger in the UK and Europe than here... not exactly one-hit-wonders.

I don’t think they were mocking drinking and sports, I think it was more a celebration of the average working class person.

Also, Chumbawama is one of my all time favorite bands, and their catalog goes a lot of places you wouldn’t expect. Like the acapella folk album.

Ah, no, "pissing the night away" is not a celebration.
I'm aware of their other music.
