I was surprised by the number of likes I got for this post, especially since I didn't exactly answer the original question.

I have to admit now that I hope my last guitar is not the 12-string; I would not be happy if that was the only guitar I had left. I like it fine, but not as an only guitar.

Edit: I still can't really answer the original question, so the thieves will still have to decide. Maybe I'll give the 12-string away when I'm down to five or six.

    :)

It'd be my 2018 SG Standard. It's just the guitar for me. I'll never be able to find guitar I connect with like that one.

I play a tele and an archtop, and I have a 335. So if I had to pick something to really cover all bases I’d probably go for something like a guild t-100d or early starfire or an es-125tdc. Something fully hollow and slim, two pickups, without PAFs.

Great question, and a difficult one to call, but my one guitar would be this '71 Les Paul Deluxe

I've spent the last 45 years with this one. I guess it's a "keeper".

All I'll ever need is my sunburst MIM Cray Strat. I did however, swap out the stock pups for StewMac Golden Age Alnicos ages ago[IMG] . I admit, I often fantasize about owning the exact same guitar, only with an ash body (natural) and a one-piece hard rock maple neck :)

I spent a lot of years with only one Strat, eventually aquired a second. That was fine, at the time, but not necessarily my choice now.
Admittedly haven't played one, but I respect the direction that Brad Paisley has gone in terms of Tele body woods. That or a chambered one.
I want brass everywhere you can put it, except for the nut (bone, please) and three noise cancelling pickups:
DiMarzio virtual vintage (or Area) Hot T bridge.
Carefully chosen mini bucker (or Firebird) neck.
DiMarzio virtual vintage Blues (or current equivalent) middle.
Front and back on a 4-way switch, a couple of push pull pots to utilize the middle.
I'm on the fence about a Bigsby.
Color? My grandma had a light blue 1969 Ford Fairlane with an off-white top. That'd work.

Only 1 guitar for the rest of my life? Probably this one. 20150208_144201.jpg

HSS pickup configuration, Fernandes Sustainer for sustaining fun, tremelo for fun trem stuff, but with a trem stopper so I can easily detune to drop D, toggle and push button killswitches so I can everything I want with this one guitar. And if need be a MIDI touch screen if I want to hook it up to a MIDI device for fun stuff.

2010 Fender Strat has been my latest go-to Numero Uno. ‘59s.

Perhaps this will be hard to believe, but my 2008 (first run) road worn strat with it's 7.25 rosewood fretboard and 6105 frets is better than anything else I have, including my Fender AO strat and tele. She weighs in at 7.2 pounds with the thinnest of nitro finishes. I keep her decked with 9-42s and use her for steel pedal licks having wired the bridge pickup to the rear tone pot. For a poor boy like me this is as good as it gets. COOP RW 2008 60s strat.jpg
