If I walked into a local shop and asked for a hotdog sandwich they would more than likely give me a strange look and hand me a wiener between two slices of buttered bread. A completely different item than a real hotdog.

There are exceptions to the definition of sandwich. One is the hot dog in a bun simply called a hot dog. Hamburger is another exception.

Silly boy you disagree with everybody, so now you're disagreeing with experts on hotdogs? Big surprise there, do you think that's going to get you anywhere at all with Amazon?:lol::lol::lol::lol:

There is a dictionary definition, and then there is usage. And specificity.

By definition above, a hamburger is also a sandwich. But in usage, we call them 'hamburgers' and 'hot dogs,' not sandwiches.

We say 'convertible' or 'roadster,' but these two things are cars. Being more specific paints a clearer picture.

So. Based on usage, and because specificity creates more complete understanding--it doesn't matter if they are sandwiches. We don't call hot dogs or hamburgers sandwiches.

I have no opinion on the matter, but that looks like about the right amount for a tasty meal.

Keyword "wrapped"... if it were "sandwiched" between a sliced or split croissant it would be different.

Yeah, but a hot dog bun is not two things. It's a single thing. This one looks like it has butter on it.

How ironic... your arteries will require some "forced induction" ie; supercharging... to function after consuming a bunch of those.

If someone invites me over to their house for a "wiener sandwich"... I'm going to politely decline.

    "But we have butter!"

Um... thank you, but today is the day that I have to do other things.

So is the roll for a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich

Point being, you have to enclose the contents from on a single horizontal axis, for it to be a sandwich.

    the hotdog certainly qualifies.

Since I'm seventy five years old, and have consumed by actual count, one point three million sticks of butter and eleven million jars of peanut butter, I'm not really going to put that at the top of my list of things to worry about. :D

But a turkey sandwich is not assembled on a horizontal axis. The slices of bread are introduced to the contents on the verticle axis.

I’m avoiding breads so when I want a hotdog sandwich I split the wiener lengthwise and fill it with cream cheese.
