What about a pig-in-a-blanket?
As long as it is made of real meat and real bread, probably yes.
Wait - are you trying to say that an omelette is ALSO a sandwich?!?!?! This thread is getting interesting now. Right not I'm drinking my "cup of coffee sandwich" and reading my "internet sandwich" trying to stay from the "politics news sandwich" but I hadn't thought about having an omelette sandwich...
If it's made of real meat and real bread, it's not a hot dog. Excuse me, I need to go practice my Telecaster Sandwich now.
An omelette can be a sandwich if placed between two slices of buttered bread. Best served with the omelette still hot and with ketchup, salt and pepper. It's like a power food only tastier. I bet it would also taste great if a hotdog wiener was added to the Omelette sandwich.
Once I was out of everything except hotdogs and hamburger buns. I made the kids a "burger dog". We now call everything a version of a "dog", burger-dog, taco-dog, Arby-dog, fish-dog, 'cue-dog, waffle-dog, etc.
One of my favourites, it's virging on being a sausage roll though.
The law clearly states that anything placed between two slices of buttered bread is called a sandwich.
I vote yes.
Yeah... but what ever happened to your actual dog?
I don't have anything pithy to say or logic to prove it, but as far as I'm concerned, a hotdog is not a sandwich.
A hot dog can be anything you want it to be; even a hockey stick.
What if the bread is unbuttered?
Wieners are but alienated FRANKFURTERS.
A hot dog is too one-dimensional to count as sandwitch!
Then its called whatever the food item is between two slices of bread. Imo Butter is required to confirm it's a sandwich.
I thought they were "red hots" or franks
Definitive answer... yes!
Any thing that is "sandwiched" between two of something else and is handheld and doesn't require cutlery... it's a sandwich.
FTR: I disagree with that editor. Meat between bread = sandwich. Hence, a "hot dog" - not just the sausage, but the sausage on a roll - is a sandwich.
Which leads to the question, is a hot dog sausage wrapped in a croissant a sandwich? This one strikes me as a "no."
I think that might be for Big Daddy Love Handles.
Peanut butter and jelly "sandwich". No butter
