On what have you changed your mind over the years?

I used to think I only needed 1 fuzz pedal.
I used to think I only needed 40 fuzz pedals.
I used to think any more than 5 tape sim delays was excessive.
I used to think the Falcons would win a Lombardi in my lifetime.
I used to think Kate Bush and I would elope.
I used to think Lady Cab Driver was the best Prince song.
I used to think you could have "too many" tubes on a pedal board.
I used to think NFL referees were impartial.
I used to think I had to play with a pick all the time.
I used to think it was OK to let the drummer drive the van.
I used to think some of the professional cyclists I knew were "clean".
I used to think riding the train overnight was fun.
I used to think 2 215 with 2 412 stacked on top was worth it.
I used to think it was hilarious when Jim Dunlop handed out those golf markers that look like guitar picks.
I used to think a giraffe was a long necked cow.
I used to think my fuchsia pants were cool.
I used to think I needed reverb on almost everything.

Guitars:

I hated the look of Telecasters, and I wanted my gear to be modern, with all the improvements that implied.

And now, I think Telecasters are perfect, especially the ones with specs that were set in stone in the decade I was born.

Unlike a lot of people who get more closed minded in their old age, I’m actually finding myself more open minded. Maybe because I was such a closed minded Richard Cranium in my youth.

Yeah that's the truth.
Life long mine would include:
1) I still like girls
2) I still like music and musical instruments
3) I still think fear of punishment/ loss and/or the wrath of God are lousy reasons to choose to do the right thing
4) I still like to work

I used to not like country music.

Actually as a kid in the '60s I heard soul R&B Rock & Country as a single style, which if you connect the right dots you can kind of confirm.
I only stopped liking Country when it went all formula poser.
Before that it was hardscrabble sharecropper solid and contained all the other listed styles.

I wouldn’t give country music a second thought 25 years ago. Now it’s got my attention.

I feel like I’m becoming more open-minded by the day.

PRS guitars have no soul. Of course they don’t, that’s what the player supplies.

The brand I favor is objectively better than other brands. Rarely true.

Mesas only do metal. Only if you only do metal. It ain’t the amp.

Chinese guitars suck. Okay this one is definitely not true, but the ones I’ve owned haven’t been as well made as stuff from just about everyplace else that makes guitars.

Tube amps or nothing. Tube amps are cool. Solid state amps are cool. Good amps are cool.
