Cool. But no helmets, no pads? Seems like a bad idea.

Yeah I noticed that, plus it seems like they're all dying in the heat. I saw one of them sit down and it looked like they gave him a cold vest to put on. Skating on that giant concrete area, it's got to be like baking in a 350 degree oven.

I noticed no life jackets on the swimmers either.

C'mon, these guys are supposed to be pros. It's assumed they've achieved a level of proficiency that safety gear shouldn't be necessary. But yeah, it bugs me a bit.

Maybe Judo should be no contact. Oh, that would be Aikido!

Skateboarding is cool. Doesn’t belong in Olympics any more than rock climbing.

I don’t know that helmets/pads would have prevented the broken arm.

Watching these poor guys trying to do the best trick seems like a masochistic exercise.

First of all... Helmets and pads are usually saved for the vert skaters who launch themselves 10+ feet into the air. These guys (street skaters) in the Olympics are professionals and know how to fall. Bad injuries come from freak accidents or carelessness.

I for one love seeing skating in the Olympics. These men and women work super hard to get good at their sport and I think it deserves all of the recognition it can get. It's nice seeing newer sports getting recognized in the games.

I wonder if their endorsers have an escape clause for TBI. Diapers & a feeding tube don’t do much for street cred. A wasted opportunity to model smarter behavior. But it's cool, right?

I think the cycling events would be far more entertaining to watch if racers had to ring little bells to signal passing.

Yep saw a bit of it and it was pretty disappointing. Maybe there will be a half pipe event later.

Just enjoy. Don't be so adult. Remember it's not how many times you fall.
