Not worth it. Too many good teles out there, both new and old, for much much less. You would just be paying for a date.

That is what a true relic should look like! Not like the over the top relics being made and sold by the custom shops and do it yourself relicers.

Hi, I think a crown and level is possible, depending on how straight the neck is and how deep those wear marks are. Here's one of my guitars that has very low frets, there is only 1mm of fret height left. It plays perfectly all the way up the neck. Needless to say the next time the frets need doing it will be a refret. Talk to your guitar tech though, they will be in the best position to tell you what can and can't be done.

That clearly indicates the need of a refret. Level & crown won't be sufficient.

First...you should be happy with smaller wire on that guitar because those divots/wear almost create a scalloped feel as in the small wire will seem big as it is. Of course, the board has to be moderately straight to get away with that wire without sanding but it's likely alright if it plays okay pitted and such.

Second...agree on the no-refin. Leave it. I'd refin' a guitar that was already fully refinished and this is not it.

    Third...congrats!!!!

    Fourth...Congrats again!!!

Fifth...I dunno about SD's, eh, I'd get old fashioned and try to score a T-Top.

I would like to put a transparent pickguard on it, to show the original color and the work done. You could paint the back of the pickguard (black or olimpic white) just over the routings, if you don't like to show the unfinished parts.

I put together a little demo for you guys of my Tele in action. Have a quick listen, tell me what you think. The first 3 clips are pieces Ive written, and the last 2 you should recognize. Minus my mediocre playing I think it sounds pretty decent. :)

The guitar is going into my 65’ Princeton Reverb RI amp and that was being mic’d by a 58 and then going back to Logic. For the first 3 sound clip’s there is zero added effects. The 4th clip I add a Boss Overdrive pedal and the 5th and final clip I use a Jimi Fuzz Face.

    Clip 1 - Bridge (Stock 67’)
Clip 2 - Neck (Old Dimarzio Super Distortion)
    Clip 3, 4, and 5 - Middle position

Thanks for posting, sounds great. Bridge pickup has a really nice chime to it without sounding thin or ice picky. The DiMarzio sounds powerful but still has a sweet top end that would work great for jazz. The pickups balance well in the middle position for some clean funky rhythm or Stones riffs with a little overdrive. I'm not a fuzz fan but it seems to do the job.

For the type of music you play I don't see any need to change that DiMarzio.

Thanks so much for taking the time to listen and leave some feedback. Ive been playing strats for a long time an have always been a mostly a neck pickup guy. But now that I can blend Neck and Bridge I think position 2 is my favorite on this guitar.

The neck on this Tele is by far my favorite neck Ive ever used. All the way up and down. Its very fast. It has a slight V shape at the nut and then it tapers up to a medium C shape at the 12th. It reminds me of an old Strat Deluxe I used to own.

    Definitely have a new #1. :)

Well, judging from the sound clips, you don't need to change a thing. Congrats on the old tele!

Btw, how are the new frets? What kind did you get, and who did the work?

I really like the new frets. They are
6200 - .084 x .038. A touch bigger than what is on my AVRI but I don’t mind that at all.

Andre LeCouteur at Precision Guitar Worx up here in Sudbury did them. He did a great job, quick, fair price, no splinttering at all and didnt touch the fingerboard wear.

Here are some more pictures I took and then that will be it. :)
