Love that tune.
The Texas Gentlemen do a great version as well.
Love the imagery in the video!
1960, that's classed as pretty new rock 'n' roll where I come from.
Gretsch and Vox amps!
I ( of course, back in the day) thought this was an original song by The Who, not knowing it was a cover
Not “ The Who”
The “ Guess Who” did Shakin all over with Randy Bachman and Chad Allen.
A timeless song, another great cover:
You are both right, the Who played it live (but not their Song):
The Who also did it
The Guess Who (actually recorded under Chad Allen & The Expressions) had a hit with the song (#22 in USA) in 1965 so they get associated with the song.
The Who really nailed it on "Live At Leeds".
Could have been bigger than the Beatles!
My band opened for them at the Locarno Ballroom, Liverpool, in 1964. The great Mick Green on guitar.
In the 90s I struck up a friendship with a bass player who'd done a shift in Kidd and The Pirates. We put a band together and gigged for a while around Liverpool. He would always say: "Go on, give me some Mick Green." He's still a great mate of mine and we talk regularly although no more gigs as we now live 270 miles apart.
Not early, but RR music
