I bought this guitar back in September but only recently joined so I figured I'd throw up some pictures.
It's a 2003-2004 MIM in Midnight Wine. Good luck finding one yourself-it took me 3 years to find one that wasn't: modded to oblivion, beat up, way overpriced, left handed, or some combination of those. It was in essentially new condition when I got it save the scratch on the bridge plate, a rusty switch and some fret wear.
I absolutely cannot believe they put this neck on a Mexican standard. Whoever sold it on ebay really didn't take good enough pictures so I was shocked when I got it in the mail, especially considering it went for under 400.

    I had a black 2003 MIM Tele.
I did a recording project for a friend with it.
It sounded great, and played and recorded beautifully!
Wish I’d kept it, dang it!

I love the Hecho-en-Mexico offerings—best bang-for-the-buck instruments out there IMHO...

    Congrats—that’s a great-looking guitar!

I don't know that I've seen a std MIM with a flamey neck like that before!

Wow, great color! That neck does take that guitar to a new level of beauty. It’s got serious mojo!

You are certainly right about used MIMsbeing hard to find.
A month or so ago I thought I'd just jump on Ebay and grab a cheap one to try out some pickups i had - there were none.

    +1

I had a 2001 in Midnight Wine. Ended up putting a Rosewood board neck on it and giving it to my wife's cousin.

    Those pickups are severely underrated.

That's awesome! I saw a used American Standard Strat once with a neck as flamey as that and it was like a baseball bat. The guys at the store said it was probably a CS special order nexk that got just a hair oversanded so it was thrown into the regular pile.

    Congrats!

I really like the Wine Red color and the flame maple neck is very attractive....don't recall Fender using a Flame neck on MIM telecasters, but it sure looks nice.

I rented one from a local outfit that looked just like the OP, except for the flamey neck. it was such a good guitar and I've kicked myself for not buying it. MIM teles and strats are the best deals out there.

I have Rics, a Martin, have had US Strats, a Les Paul Custom, other Teles…

My favorite is my ‘91 MIM. I bought it brand new in early 1992 with Christmas money, traded it for a bass amp in Feb., 1998 in my last semester as an undergrad, and bought it back 2.5 years later in August, 2000 with my first paycheck after grad school. It’s been with me ever since.

I’ve modded the hell out of it over the years. I had a humbucker installed in the neck, although have since gone back to a standard Tele neck pickup. I also had a string-through bridge installed, and it currently has a custom dual load Armadillo aluminum bridge with Gotoh InTune saddles... For now.

Had one when I first picked up guitar again. Had a nice neck but somewhere along the line the sides of the neck had gotten narrowed and the string spacing was way off. I do regret selling it.

That has always been a favorite color for a Tele. I wish my Baja were midnight wine.

    Nice.
