So let's have our "Top of the flops"

And I'll start off with a strong contender for the WORST rendition of what is actually a very good song.

"Reach out and touch" was the ending song of "The Soundmix show" which in the USA was called "your big break" in the eighties, they released an album with the best renditions done by the show's best known winners and closed the album off the same way as they would do an episode with all of them singing "Reach out and touch" together.

    So what makes this lousy?

Click on it and you shall hear it but don't say I didn't warn you, what you're about to hear can never be unheard...

Wonderfull Christmas Time has to be the worst song in the history of all recorded music. Followed by Imagine.

Two of the greatest songwriters, composed this garbage.

As Huey Lewis once said "Sometimes bad is bad" and there's nothing redeeming about this one...
In another thread of mine it was brought up that French chansons can be the top of tack.

But even those can't be as GHASTLY as this overproduced and "Trying too hard to sound sincere" little ditty.

Yeah, but there’s something about that song and chicks in their 30s and 40s that get them in a happy singing mood. So I let that one go. Single men in their 40s tend to tolerate these things.

Again, here's a lousy rendition of a good song.

When I learned about the Beach Boys having covered Elton John's "Crocodile rock" I went "The right song for the right band" But apparently, the Beach Boys had completely forgotten what made them great. The production is SO beneath of what they are capable of and the drum sound and the keyboard sounds are so dated.

Why was there nobody in the recording session who went "Quit goofing around you guys, do this PROPERLY!"

Hairmetal has its fair share of terrible songs.

But none of them as bad as THIS...

The music video is every bit the train wreck as the song itself is...

About as exciting as me singing a song about all the steps necessary to complete a week's worth of dirty laundry:

I sorted all the colors, and I started with all the lights
Don't wanna mix 'em up, or I'll have pinks instead of whites
Add a cup of detergent, closed the lid and turned the dial
Pulled the darks from the dryer, and tossed 'em into a pile

    Do a load of laundreeeeee
    And two more loads today
    Do a load of laundreeeeeee...
    aaaaaand {aaand, aaaannnnnnd}
Fold it all and put it away

    gaaaaak

I guess there's no explaining what makes you hate a song so much. But Love In An Elevator by Aerosmith, Carry On My Wayward Son by Kansas and All I Want To Do Is Have Some Fun by Sheryl Crow just really grate my nerves.

Old Time Rock n Roll by Seger is straight garbage and has no doubt made him boatloads of cash.

Wonderful Christmastime is maybe the worst Christmas song ever, and certainly qualifies as all-around bad.

Agree it's awful, but I'll say that I always hated it for its general tone. At some point I actually listened to the lyrics and realized it's about the narrator cheating with his own wife. At that point for me, it went from passively bad to constructively terrible, a la Macarthur Park or similar. Songs in that class of badness actually come back around to "entertaining" for me.

Seriously, how do you belt "someone left the cake out in the rain?" with any emotional honesty? But I digress...

    Let me throw this in

I’m a Journey fan. Steve Perry is one of the all time great vocalists.

But, whoever was involved with Don’t Stop Believin should be launched from the deck of the USS Nimitz into the Marianas Trench.
