I've seen Gibsons at the shop that had guitar stand burns on them, it is a mess to be sure, It actually melts into the lacquer. I've never had a problem with any of my own guitars and stands though. I don't usually leave guitars on stands for extended periods.

This is hard with a new guitar where one likes to keep it 'showroom' new. I say let it 'age' with you playing & handling it. It gives the guitar its character.

I bought a K&M cork stand for my nitro guitars. So far so good.

I have several (5 or 6?) of these around the house. I don’t generally believe in stands for gigging, but my wife insists that if I’m going to leave guitars all over the house, they have to look like they’re being displayed, and not just left laying around all willy-nilly.

I’ve had them about two years now and haven’t had any issues with my lacquer finished instruments.

I did not know about nitro and rubber / foam issues until recently - I learned about that on this site.

Fortunately, all of my guitars are / have been poly.
