My next gig is at a house party in Old Saybrook, CT with the Dead band. I'll be on my 51RI P-Bass, the Quilter Tone Block 200, and 2 Bag End S12C cabinets. When I blew one speaker, at the last gig and not being the original owner, I contacted BE with the Serial Number and found out they are from 1996, and the alpha designation is "C" (black carpet) rather than the "D" (red carpet) that I thought they were.

The BE replacment 12in repalcement speaker was $316. I ended up buying an Emimence Kappalite 3012LF for $209 after confereing with Eminence. It's out for delivery today! I planned on changing both 12s, but the other BE still sounds fantastic, and I couldn't bring myself to spend $420 when one speaker was still strong, and sounding good. I hope they play well together, and I don't regret my decision. ;0) We shall see!

Just to wrap this up - The Kappalite 3012LF arrived yesterday and I installed it. It DRAMATICALLY reduced the weight on the S12C cabinet ... NICE! It sounds fantastic and mixes very well with the ceramic Bag End E12. The Kappalite is a bit brighter at the moment, but that may change with break-in. Happy, and looking forward to cranking them up this Saturday!

Landed another gig for this Sunday at "Applefest", a nice day at a local orchard. We do an Applefest and/or Peachfest each year, this year just the Apple. We'll be doing two different ensembles. First and last is our "Irish eclectic" band consisting of guitar/fiddle/vocal, guitar/vocal, accordian, and me on my 51RI P-bass/vocal. I'll use one Bag End S12C and the Quilter Tone Block 200 for an amp. Then at the beginning of the 2nd set we'll play about 8 tunes with a new thing I've been rehearsing with: fiddle/guitar/vocal (same guy), bass (new guy), and me on guitar/vocal. We're doing some John Hartford tunes, ragtime stuff, a "bluegrassed up" Dead tune. Fun stuff. I'll use either my 1973 Martin D28, which is a little tough to play these days, or as he is demanding, the bass players new Martin HD28 which is just beautiful, and a pleasure to play. I must say I'm a little nervous playing his new Martin with "Murphy's Law" always lurking about, but he's really insisting. Either way, it should be a really nice time.

Winery gig Saturday afternoon, played there many times, good folks, good wine. Scenic spot, but looks like a good chance of rain:( If it rains we will set up in the loft; so I want to travel light.

    Tempted to bring my 2x10 with 5881's;
have not used it in over a year. Reconfigured the preamp tonight and got rid of the buzzing:D I'll reasemble it tomorrow and run it through it's paces and then decide:rolleyes:

I'm at the Red Rock Steakhouse this evening doing a trio gig with Nathan Colt Young.
We’ll be inside, which I personally enjoy more than the big outdoor stage.
    No heat, cold, bugs, etc.
I’m becoming a whiner in my dotage.;)
    I digress.
The trio has been sounding really good, IMO.
I’ll use my go to C&C rig, and perhaps my Takamine acoustic-electric.
    Looking forward to it!

I'll be on bass tonight with my trio at my favorite neighborhood brewpub. I'll take the Stingray and the Jazz bass and play through the GK/small pedalboard setup. I'm sure it'll be a blast as usual.

My next one is tomorrow evening at Donn’s Depot, with owner/pianist/singer Donn and son/drummer Matt.
It’s rumored the governor will be there.
I’m on guitar for this one, so I’ll play my Chet.
That was always my go-to for this gig.
I put fresh strings on it this evening, as well as my B bender Cabronita.
    I may play it, too.
    It’s a two hour gig.
Sometimes you don’t play much if there are speakers doing their thing.
It will pay well, and I’m grateful for that.

Next gig is first weekend in December - my high school band is getting back together for a weekend jam! Should be a blast. We played a lot of Beatles covers back then, and the reunion coincides a week after the "Get Back" movie releases.

I don't have my old Electra MPC Les Paul copy (electronics stopped working, didn't play it for 20 years and sold it) but will bring my 1985 Squier Tele, which has been upgraded with lots:
    • Dunlop jumbo frets, new nut
    • Schaller locking tuners
    • Stew Mac 6-saddle bridge with Graph Tech Saddles
    • Duncan Hot Rails bridge
    • Duncan Jazz Neck (full size; originally had a Duncan Hot Rails Strat there)
    • push pull volume/tone pots for coil splitting
    • Electrosocket jack
Don't have my Music Man 65 410 anymore or the MXR Distortion II, but I still have my Ibanez AD9 Delay from 83... although will probably just bring my pedalboard and my Princeton Reverb.

We'll set up facing each other, and will use my DL1608 and QSC K10 for vocals. I'll check with our guitar/keyboard player and may also bring my K2000. For our bass player, who's flying in from Seattle, I'll have my Roland KC500 keyboard amp which is OK for clean bass. Have also used it as a vocal monitor...

    Should be a blast!

Another winery tomorrow, tucked back up in the mountains. Kids, grands and even Mrs Strum are going:D

I'll probably bring 2 Teles, and play through my usual 6v6 amp.

Hopefully we'll have good weather, chance of rain just like last weekend and it turned out great:cool:

My next one is this evening in Yorktown, Tx with Nathan Colt Young.
We are playing for Westen Days, and we are the first of three acts on.
It will be a two hour show.
We’ll have a great guest fiddler.
I’m bringing my Cabronita, Chet and Strat.
I’ll probably just play the Cabronita.
    Looking forward to it!

Mine’s Wednesday evening with Sean Orr at the Little longhorn, in Austin.
It’s been fun doing this one!
I’ll use my usual rig, it’s been consistently great, lately.
I may bring my Warmoth Jazzmaster, for a lark.
    Looking forward to it.

Tomorrow evening we will play a dinner hour set as part of a fundraiser for an organization that does a lot for the community. They help a lot of folks get skills, jobs, housing, shelter and medical needs:) I have an appreciation for groups like OCP; my brother was a schizophrenic and homeless most of his adult life and received plenty of this kind of help.

I know the sound guy and he's good:cool:
I plan on my two favorite Teles and 6v6 amp~ IMG_20211022_115617478.jpg

I have a bass gig tonight at Donn’s with Donn.
I’m playing my friend Wyatt’s new bass.
It’s a nice baby blue Jazz Bass knockoff with a P/J pickup configuration.
It has a reall nice bound, figured maple, rosewood fretboard buck.
It’s a feather, and has brand new D’Addario Chrome Flats on it.
    I assume it’s got a Pawlonia body.
    Should be a fun evening.

My next gig is this Friday the 29th, playing bass with Donn again.
    I’ll play my Kestrel bass.
    It’s my all time favorite.
    Looking forward to it.

Next Saturday 6 Nov, an opening gig for us for our first outing as a band. Sounds like a lot of my friends and family will be there to support us, so should be a friendly crowd. All being well, we are already booked to go back early next year at slightly better rates. :)

Usual gig set up for me: Home buit Strat with Eric Clapton mid boost, small pedalboard and a Marshall SC20 combo.

    Can't wait. :)

I bought the SC20 last year and will finally get to gig with it tomorrow. All my previous gigs have been acoustic.

I’m taking the Am Std Tele that just got a third pickup installed - a Little ‘59.
