I have a gig at Middleton Brewery with Amber Lucille this evening.
I’m bringing my EJ Strat and avatar guitar, and my trusty Cube 80XL.
I always enjoy playing with Amber (b,v) and husband Joe (d,v).
    Looking forward to it!

My next one is tomorrow night with my old friend Bob at Proof & Cooper.
It will be my first time there.
It’s a nice restaurant, and we’ll be outdoors.
The weather is supposed to cooperate.
I’m bringing one of my B bender guitars, probably my Cabronita, and my new-to-me Duesenberg Starplayer Deluxe.
    Should be fun!

We should have been playing a club on November, 20th - but we're heading into a partial shutdown from Monday onwards, due to the-virus-that-is-not-to-be-mentioned-here.......
I would have been trying out my wet/dry setup for the first time live and I'm quite disappointed!
Ibanez Artcore AF75 and VGS Mustang as backup guitar.
Hughes & Kettner Edition Tube 25th Anniversary as wet amp and an IMG Stageline as dry amp; main pedalboard.

How are you liking the Deusenberg, Bill? I just checked that model out, looks NICE! I saw Jedd Hughes use D with Rodney Crowell and have kind of lusted for one ever since.

    I love it!
It’s like my Chet, but not as cumbersome.

Good to hear. Beautiful looking guitar, and from what I've heard of them they sound great as well. Thanks for the info.

I have a bass gig with my favorite 3 piece band at a local winery tomorrow. It's a 5-8 show and only 2 blocks from my house, so I'll be home before 9. I haven't had the Stingray or the fretless '65 P out in awhile, so we'll give them a little workout through the GK MB112. Should be fun.

Gig Saturday...since my Tone Master Deluxe Reverb Blonde showed up today, it’s definitely going. Will decide wether to use my player Tele or my 82 Washbburn for a humbucker sound...kind of fits the set list this time.

After nearly Eight Months of Blight, I scored a private Party to play at.
    Dang, feels like a Lifetime!

Got it through a business Aquatience at work.
We have known each other longer than recorded history. He has Never heard me play.
He is throwing a 50th bash for his Wife and thought NOW is the time to hear me.
She and he have a large family with a lot of friends. This party is for her and 8 others who have Birthdays in November.

The Band will be me and, a couple of guys I have played with for many years but never in this configuration.
All three of us Sing pretty good so that alone has me stoked.
Three hours, probably 36-40 songs. I know good and well we will run out of time long before we run out of tunes. Loving that, too!

I'll be playing my Tele with Les Paul back-up through my trusty '73 Musicman amp.

    Let it Rawk!

    I have a “twofer” today.
First up is an 11AM gig with my old friend and favorite duo partner, Lamar.
We’ll be a trio this time, with brilliant saxophonist Paul K rounding us out.
Paul is my favorite sax player.
He’s a great soloist, and a natural entertainer!
    The hour will fly by!
We’re playing at a nice, big senior living complex.
Next, this evening, I’ll play with the Amber Lucille Band at Riley’s Tavern in Hunter, Tx.
I’m bringing my B bender Cabronita and Duesenberg Starplayer Deluxe.
I’ll plug into my Boss ME50 and Roland Cube 80XL.
    Looking forward to both gigs!

My next one is tomorrow evening at Riley’s Tavern with the Joel Hofmann Band, in Hunter, Tx.
    Joel owns Riley’s.
We’ll be opening up for country music legend Moe Bandy.
We’ve opened for Moe before, and he puts on a great show!
I’m going to play my P bass into my GK amp.
    Should be fun!

Last minute call to play at the Wild Boar with the small band. Taking Strat, mando, SG and Marshall Origin 20 head.

Cool place with craft beer and good food. Usually a good crowd too.

My next one is a bass gig with friends Ace and Clay.
We are playing outdoors at a Mexican restaurant on the square in Wimberley, from 4 till 7PM today.
This one appeared out of the blue on Thursday.
We’ll play classic rock and blues.
I’m playing my P bass into my GK bass rig.
    Looking forward to it!

Things are still a little dicey here. Had to turn down a few. I can't complain, but sometimes I still do...

In the meantime, I have been doing a few regular things on Zoom. Mostly songwriter circles, things I got invited to do. One of them is every Saturday night, mostly Houston/Dallas, a few Austins, some Nashville, some Colorado. It's not exactly the same crew every week. Works like a song circle. Here's what that one looks like:

    Screen Shot 2020-09-12 at 10.14.51 PM.png

I also did a couple for the "virtual" Kerrville Folk Festival. Here's what that looks like:
    Screen Shot 2020-09-25 at 3.09.16 PM.png

They are kind of fun and kind of something else. Even the best sound is sometimes a little sketchy, and for some, it's a combination of woofy vocals mixed with underwater guitar. Some of the people I've known long time, long time, and many I've just met through these Zoom things. Welcome to the Brave New World?

I use a 2-channel interface, so I can do guitar plus vocal through a mic. I use a pedal board, but that can be little touchy as the interface as fairly limited headroom. Less than 10% of the participants are playing electric guitars; I'm using both a flattop or my tele or Epi Sorrento. Here's tonight's tools; interface, pedal board and guitar:
    IMG_2158.jpg
    IMG_2157.jpg IMG_2159.jpg

... the venue where I used to do a weekly is still closed, but they want us back and they are just holding on...

My next one is on the 20th, with the Joel Hofmann Band at Buck’s Backyard.
Though I have been playing bass with Joel for the last several months, I’m playing guitar on this one.
I don’t know the bass player who is subbing for me, but drummer Paul recommended him.
I’ll play/bring my two B bender guitars, and my Duesenberg Starplayer Deluxe.
I’m going to play through my Boss ME50 and DV Mark Frank Gambale amp.
It will be fun to use a different amp rig.
    Looking forward to it!
