We're playing at winery on Saturday afternoon, they will have us set up on an upper deck. The wine bar will be set up in the gazebo where we would ordinarily be.
I was pretty tickled to have another gig.
Bad news is that I talked to our bass player today and he's gone back to drinking~probably headed for detox on Monday So sad, great player and had been sober for the last 10yrs
Got a couple of calls out, but it may just be singer, drums and me on guitar...
Was gonna bring a couple of Teles and an od pedal~guess it'll be a jazz box and lots of chord melodies
Loudon Theater, Saturday night. First gig with new small band while the big band is on quarantine.
Taking the DRRI, American Standard Strat and mandolin. Should be a hoot.
Just got a last minute call to sub for a buddy in an acoustic duo gig at the local winery. Starts in about an hour. Playing guitar and bass tonight, so I'm taking my Takamine GB70 ABG and the Martin D-1. Wish me luck whilst I flail about and knock off the rust...
My next gig is July 4th at the Atria senior living complex.
We’ll be outside, masked and a long distance from our audience.
This will be my third gig there with the same “game plan”.
The residents seem to enjoy our piano/bass/guitar show.
Leader Lamar will probably sing a couple of patriotic songs, and we’ll wear our matching shirts.
It’s always fun playing with Lamar and bassist Bob.
I’m bringing my Chet and my Elite Thinline Tele.
Looking forward to it!
My next one is this coming Friday at the Cherry Creek Catfish Company.
I’ll be subbing on guitar and vocals.
My dear friend and brilliant drummer, Kevin will be playing, too.
We’ll be a trio, guitar, sax and drums.
I’m going to play my PRS 594 Singlecut and Elite Thinline Tele.
Looking forward to it!
Next one is a House party July 4th.
Its gonna be outside and its gonna be hot.
The Pink strat is the primary, the Telecaster is doing open G and backup duty. Probably use the Princeton as usual.
I bought some Yamaha DBR10's to use as floor monitors last year so I hope that takes enough load off the FOH to keep up.
two duo gigs came by request yesterday. A local bar with Outdoor Patio this weekend , we typically play there 1 x mth , in or out , and the second is a private club next weekend, where we would typically play 6 or 7 times each season. Both are outdoor this time around. Its gonna be good to use the tuner again !
The bars are closed again.
My next three gigs were at bars.
I have a “concert” gig Saturday, the 4th at a big senior living complex.
We’ll be masked, and will play a considerable distance from our audience.
That’s it, for awhile.
Gonna join the driveway concert crowd on Sunday afternoon. The drummer from my hillbilly boogie band suggested we do a driveway concert. He lives in town; the rest of us are coming down out of the mountains. For a couple of years now we have only done a few festivals a year so we'll have a great time. Been playing too much jazz at wineries lately.
Gonna bring the 2x10 and crank a couple of Teles
My next one is at the Little Longhorn on Thursday, the 16th, with fiddler/singer Sean Orr.
The venue will be closed to the public, but our performance will be livestreamed.
I’ll play my avatar guitar and Elite Thinline.
Looking forward to it.
First gig after more than a half year next saturday in a small pub. All with the corona rules but better than sitting at home. Reduced amount of guests, distance and so on.
I´ll play my avatar amp and tele, a custom tweed super with 2x12 cab and a custom made hss tele.
Cool looking amp and guitar!
Our harmonica player had bad allergies get him so we put off the driveway concert
Hopefully we will do it this coming Sunday
got an outdoor wedding gig in the woods on August 8th, me (guitar) and three singers who sing duets
it's in a pavilion with electricity, and I'm going pretty minimal: basically everything will be routed through an Eventide Mixing Link in mono:
1. the two mics will go into a Radial Mix 2:1 and into the Mixing Link
2. the acoustic guitar (with in-hole Baggs M1) will pass through an EQ and a volume pedal before going into the Mixing Link
3. the effects send/return of the Mixing Link will route everything through a Cali76 compressor (parallel compression) and a Catalinbread Talisman plate reverb
the Mixing Link then sends the balanced XLR output through a splitter, with one side going to the audience-facing JBL the other to the other JBL as a monitor for us on the ground
in short: everything is essentially going through a little custom pedalboard with this stuff on it and out to the two lightweight JBLs
seems to me like a fairly minimal/elegant solution with some nice add-ons in the way of compression and a touch of plate reverb
either that or I just bring the Yamaha MG12X mixer, use the Aux send for external effects for the heck of it, bring it in on some unused channel, and call it a day
I have an outdoor bass gig in Martindale Friday evening.
I’m playing with the Joel Hofmann Band.
I haven’t had a bass gig in awhile.
I’m brining both my basses, the Fender P and PRS Kestrel.
I’ll play through my trusty old Traynor Block 80 amp.
Looking forward to it!
Hybrid acoustic private lake party gig tomorrow with my new duo (female vocalist and me) for which I'll be using my Godin A6 Ultra strung with .011-.052, playing through my Fishman Loudbox 180 and more additional stuff than I care to admit.
If my fingers survive the Fri gig, Sat is a hybrid acoustic trio (old bluesman guitarist, percussionist on Roland Handsonic kit and me) gig at a winery out in the country. Same guitar rig will be used.
If it doesn't rain on Saturday, I will be doing a winery gig. It will be duo again on a second floor balcony, pretty much seems to be what is available in these times. She's got a great voice and we can cover a lot of territory with just
2 voices and 1guitar. I kind of long for the days before March
I have an outdoor gig at a big senior living complex in Lakeway, Tx this Friday afternoon.
It’s a duo gig with my friend pianist/singer/guitarist Lamar.
It will be under the covered front entrance to a group of about 20 folks.
We’ll be masked up, and a considerable distance from them.
I’ll probably play my Chet, and avatar guitar into my trusty Cube 80XL.
I’ll sing through my Fishman Loudbox Performer.
I always enjoy playing with Lamar.
He’s a great singer/player/writer.
We’ve been friends for about 33 years.
Hey Bill how is singing through the mask, any techniques or eq tricks that are helpful?
We use them while setting up and on breaks, but unmask while singing. Of course we are outside and quite distanced from the crowd...
