    It was just reported that here in NC starting Fri night, many more venues can open which includes Bars and Restaurants with some distancing restrictions.

    I also read this morning that CDC has now stated that surface to surface contact ( touching ) does not transmit the virus ! Thats a game changer right there ! Holy Cow !

    Maybe we can all get back to playing again soon.

    Had a rehearsal with a new band last Sunday and will be doing it again on Monday. I’ve been working with the drummer for 10 years and the bass player has been having him fill in with his other band for awhile too. I’ve known the bass player for 20+ years but this is the first time we have worked together.

    We have 2 dates booked this summer playing outdoors at a local brewery. As of right now, they have not officially cancelled and with things starting to re-open, it’s looking like we might get to go through with them. 1st date is in 2 weeks.

    I’ll be playing through my newest build... a spin on a Blackface Deluxe powered by EL84’s into a 10” Jensen C10R.

    I have a bass gig (outdoors) at Riley’s Tavern with owner Joel Hofmann at 7PM till 9ish.
    I usually play guitar with Joel, but I’ve played bass with him once before.
    I’m just bringing my old faithful Traynor Block 80 combo amp.
    I’m bringing both my basses, the Kestrel and the P bass.
    I’m looking forward to it!
    My senior living gig yesterday was cancelled due to expected rain.
    It didn’t rain, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.

    My next one is Friday at Goofy’s in Canyon Lake.
    It has been a very pleasant regular gig lately.
    I usually play my avatar guitar and Cube 80XL.
    It’s early, 6-9PM, and the provided PA is great.
    Looking forward to it!

    Today the restaurants are re-opening here in my home state. We´ve got very low rates on COVID here in the last weeks so hopefully there´ll be the restart for gigging within the next few weeks in the smaller venues where we play usually.

    Next regular gig would be in July so I´m hopeful.

    Most of our gigs (and income) are for senior living centers and I think we will be shut out for the rest of the year. We have an outdoor fest mid July, but I have a feeling it will be cancelled. Another in September, so maybe. I’ll be using my Player Tele to Champion 50XL. I hope...

    My (rain check) gig at the Atria senior living complex happens in 2 1/2 hours.
    I’m playing with friends Lamar and Bob.
    Like (once) before, we’ll “mask up”, and play on the asphalt behind the complex.
    We’ll be near the loading dock and dumpsters, playing for the residents on their balconies.
    We’ll be 40ish yards away.
    It should be pleasant and cool-ish, weather-wise.
    I’m bringing my avatar guitar, Cube, and Fishman Loudbox.
    My Larrivee RS4 is coming along too.
    We play two short sets, about 30 minutes each.
    Me move to better “cover” the entire complex.
    Looking forward to it!

    I have a gig at the Little Longhorn Wednesday evening.
    My friend, fiddler extraordinaire Sean is the bandleader.
    It a happy hour show, from 6-9PM.
    I don’t know who else is playing, but I’m sure they’ll be skilled.
    I’m bringing my avatar guitar and Chet.
    Should be fun!

    the venue where I've had a long standing weekly gig has re-opened and the owners are asking us to come back near the end of June - kind of watching the numbers pretty close, 'cuz I still live in a large urban area, and it doesn't take much to start up a few brush fires, so to speak. Wait and see; my better half is not in favor of me getting out any time soon.

    Brewery gig for Friday is on! We are doing a “dress rehearsal” tonight on the drummer’s back deck...never had this band, amp, or PA out and in-use before. Rather have glitches tonight than on Friday.

    Here’s the whole PA and my guitar stuff ready to load for the drive across town (0.7 miles).

    No gigs scheduled yet for the band that I'm in. It wouldn't surprise me if some places start putting up acrylic sheets to act as sneeze guards.

    With things starting to open up around here, we've finally got one this weekend, at a restaurant's opening party on a salt water bay. They are restricted to 50 people for the party, and the owner told us we have to go with 3 guys instead of our band's 4 (?!), spaced 8 feet apart each out on their front lawn. We aren't psyched at all to exclude any one of us in the band, but dem's their rules I guess so it will be 2 guitars and light drum setup; no bass. The bass component in our tunes will be missed for sure.

    Edit: gear will be, Ibanez jazz box, silver PR, Danecho, Sparkledrive. Keeping it simple.

    I have a gig tomorrow in Canyon Lake at Baja BBQ.
    I’m playing with Amber Lucille.
    We’ll be a trio with Amber leading, singing and playing bass.
    She has a cool natural finish J bass strung with flats.
    Amber is a great, powerful singer and I always enjoy playing with her.
    Our drummer will be the great Joe Boone.
    We played Baja BBQ a few weeks ago and had a great time.
    I restrung my avatar guitar, and I’m bringing my EJ Strat.
    I may even bring the Larrivee RS4, which is currently set up with a Hipshot B bender.
    The gig pays well, and is usually well attended.
    Should be fun!

    I picked up a trio gig with my friend (fiddle player) Sean in Schulenburg, Tx this evening.
    I haven’t met the upright bass player, but I’m sure it will be fine.
    Schulenburg is a bit of a drive, and I haven’t played there in over 30 years.
    I’m bringing my James Goodall RCJC, my avatar guitar, and my new to me Fender Elite Tele Thinline.
    Should be fun!

    I have a trio gig with Amber Lucille tomorrow at Middleton Brewery in Wimberley, Tx.
    I’m bringing my avatar guitar and new Elite Thinkine Tele.
    I really like their dark(est) beer at Middleton’s.
    Should be fun!

    We have an outdoor fest gig lined up but it’s probably not gonna happen. In the mean time a restaurant patio deal came up next Friday. Tele and Champion 50XL unless it need more volume...then I would go with my Rumble 100 which actually sounds pretty good. Waiting to hear if they have a P.A. If not, my Bose Compact and Bose S-1 Pro. And a half dozen harmonica’s.

    Gigs are finally coming back.... I've got 6 over the next 3 weeks with 2 different groups. Both are are pretty much the same setup....

    * Tele / Strat / Variax
    * Pedal Steel
    * Baritone
    * 5 - String Banjo
    * Helix direct to console for everything... 1 line to the board & I handle all pre-mix duties making it really easy on the tech!

    Group #1 does standard monitors (wedges, separate mixes), I'll supplement that with a small FRFR on stage, just in case ;)
    Group #2 does in-ears and I also add keyboards to my set up

    I have a gig at Riley’s Tavern in Hunter, Tx Friday with
    Amber Lucille.
    I’ll bring my avatar guitar, and my PRS 594 McCarty Singlecut.
    This trio is really tightening up!
    I just subbing for her regular guy, but it’s been fun playing with Amber and Joe lately.
    It’s outdoors and only 3 hours.
    Looking forward to it!
