Saturday afternoon dance at the Canadian legion today…..always so much fun for us and the house is usually full with happy people….and maybe that one grumpy guy that doesn't like it when his drinking hole is full of happy people:):)
I LOVED playing Canadian Legions!
The one’s in Edmonton and Prince George, in particular.
I have many great, unique memories.
I particularly loved the times brand new RCMP officers would attend in their red serge uniforms.
They were inspiring!
Because it was long(ish) ago, circa 1995, it was smoky, crowded, noisy (in a good, busy way) and always fun.

Between dealing with the store and doing repairs I haven't been gigging much lately. Thankfully the calender is starting to get more dates on it. Friday I'll be on bass with the trio for a St. Patty's party. It's been a hot minute since I've pulled the Tele bass out of the case so I'll take it and the GK 112.

Saturday I have a solo gig at my favorite neighborhood brewpub. The LG1 through one BOSE L1 is my go to for most of my solo shows. Simple and easy.

Two this week: one tonight, couple guys are doing an audition for a regular at a wine bar up in Ft. Collins. They asked me to sit in (called yesterday). Just 5 or 6 tunes, I'll sing a few, play acoustic and tele.

Then, Friday, a nooner at a sandwich shop with my regular 4-piece, which has become a 3-piece, due to bass players health probs. Yeah, it's St. Patrick's Day and our Mando player knows some fiddle tunes, so he'll have to pull that duty. For me, same acoustic and tele set up.

Going to be fun!

A friend and I team up as “Plumber’s Craic” (he IS a plumber) and play a yearly charity gig at the pub we have both been drinking at for many, many years.

This year our assault on the senses will occur on St Patrick’s day by sheer chance. Another friend who can actually carry a tune will be performing a few Irish songs just to assure the audience that my friend and I are indeed in need of sympathy.

I plan to introduce our performance with the statement that we have good news and bad news.

The good news is we aren’t any worse than last time
The bad news is we are not any better….oh and you suffer for our art.

Last time we played $3700 was raised for breast cancer research….mainly because we threatened to keep playing if the audience didn’t dig deep.

This time it is for a charity to supply needy children with a backpack containing stuff to make their lives a bit more tolerable. I hope the audience respond appropriately.

I have two today.
The first is with my friend Lamar in Leander.
I think (I should know:rolleyes:) it’s a duo gig, but we may have another player.
It’s early, 12:30 to 1:30 PM, and will be a St. Patrick’s Day themed gig.
Lamar is always fun to play with, he’s a great singer/keyboardist/guitarist.
I’m going to play my trusty old Gretsch Chet, Cube 80XL and Fishman Loudbox Performer.
Next is another St. Paddy’s Day trio gig, in Columbus, with Nathan Colt Young, at Hound Song Brewery, at 6 PM.
We haven’t played there in awhile, but the stage is nice and big, and the PA is provided, as is a house sound man.
It’s a couple of hours drive.
I’ll use my go-to Cabronita and Cube rig.
Nice, busy day!

My brother's visiting from Anacortes, WA, and we had five assisted living facilities lined up to play this week, one of which had to cancel due to the presence of viral unpleasantness in the building. This afternoon we're playing at the Conservatory at Alden Bridge for a St, Paddy's Day celebration. I'll be playing my Sheraton thru my VR, singing thru a Sennheiser e835 into a Digitech Vocalist Live 3. PA will be a Mackie ProFX8 into a Bose L1 Compact. My brother will be playing a Selmer Reference 54 tenor sax and an Armstrong flute thru another Sennheiser e835. Repertoire will be my usual, but greatly enhanced by his playing. It be fun!

Two more coming up next week, both on bass. Monday I'll be at Eichardt's Pub for Blues Night with The Blues Crew. Friday it's Pend Orielle Winery with my trio. Most likely gear for both gigs will be the American Elite Jazz through the GK MB112. Both shows should be a blast!

Fantastic!
It will be great to see you again!
The venue makes a great hamburger, but I don’t know of any particularly good places to eat nearby.
I’ll do some research, and get back to you.
Perhaps we can meet somewhere nearby for dinner?
