Robin Williams would've been great in Castaway.
Did you see him with Deniro in Awakenings? Amazing.
I’ve said a few times that they should do essentially a shot for shot remake of “the other guys” with Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell each playing the opposite role. I think that would be funny. Also, I’ve thought that John Cleese and John Lithgow had a quirky similarity in appearance. Would have been fun to have them play siblings in a film.
Okay, it's a bit silly, but I could definitely see Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs as Jules in the real Pulp Fiction.
I don't know who could have replaced him as I cannot think of any actors around this time, but Mark Hamill never sat well with me as Luke Skywalker
That's ok, 'cause they don't like you either
and the 3 point shot ruined basketball
I vehemently disagree. Kevin is so natural and low key that he doesn't scream "I was ACTING" like Jon Lovitz on SNL, and many others, like Pacino. I see him as the Tom Petty or Chet Atkins of actors, because they make what they do look so easy too, until you really pay attention and see how great they really are.
are reality TV actors included?
To say that Nick Cage could replace Jimmy Stewart in anything is like saying that Joe Rogan could be Atticus Finch in To Kill a Mockingbird. However, The Family Man with Tea Leoni is his best performance IMO.
And, IMO, no one could replace Jimmy Stewart, Henry Fonda, Humphrey Bogart, Spencer Tracy, Katherine or Audrey Hepburn, Bette Davis, Cary Grant, Sidney Poitier, Rod Steiger, Peter Sellers, Woody Allen, Marilyn Monroe, Orson Welles, or Marlon Brando in any of their roles. And, I feel the same about Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelly, and Robin Williams, who was an amazing dramatic actor.
The actor who played the inert carbon rod in the episode of The Simpsons where Homer goes into space could replace Steven Seagal in 90% of his roles without issue.
I’m with you on that one.
But, no one could replace Homer or Bart or Maggie or Marge!
Just a few names for me.
Cape Fear -- Jack Nicholson instead of De Niro
Pulp Fiction -- Mickey Rourke instead of Bruce Willis
Blade Runner -- Harvey Keitel instead of Harrison Ford
Pacino and De Niro are almost interchangeable, except Raging Bull, The Deer Hunter and maybe a couple more to me.
The Godfather --- Marlon Brando with nobody.
Bernard Cribbins in place of Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins.
Almost anyone ( NO Steven Seagal! ) to replace Sean Connery in roles where the protagonist is meant to be from anywhere outside Scotland/Northern England. His portrayal of the Spaniard in Highlander is risible. Sean's command of accents and dialect is on a par with my command of photosynthesis.
Well, since it turned out they're all from another planet, you have no idea if Connery was doing his accent wrong or not.
Jeff Bridges would have been great in Castaway, one of the finest actors around in my opinion.
Oh sure, the resulting movie would have sucked...
Cary Elwes was a better Robin Hood...
Some cool ideas.
I think Jim Carrey could have been good in Cast Away. He's actually a very versatile actor.
Robin Williams--I could definitely see that too!
As an aside, I was never crazy about Cast Away, I just think it's an interesting premise, having a lone actor for a large portion of the movie.
