The only pedal I ever bought (as opposed to the many I have built): I had never even heard of the company, but I learned that in some tiny way I'd had a role in it coming into being so I resolved to buy one of their pedals. It's a funky one for sure and not really my "style" but I wanted to close the circle somehow. Maybe someday I'll learn how to use it well ...

This is my fanciest pedal, proper labels and all...

Indeed and they cost as much as a decent amp, around $600.

An overdrive/distortion pedal that can do everything and more. My favorite bits are the LOUD clean-boost channel, which can be pre or post drive channel, and the mid EQ is parametric. The second knob on the top row is mid freq, sweepable from about 1KHz to 5KHz, and there’s a 3-way Q switch for making that mid EQ band narrow, medium or wide.

Selectable diodes for both soft-clipping and hard-clipping, lots of drive available, and the 18v-9v switch yields more or less headroom.

It was a crazy build, for a first-time-ever pedal kit builder. I mean, I hadn’t ever even soldered before.

    Nope, never done it.

Though if they make a pedal called the Raiders Of The Lost Ark Sturmtruppen Face-Melting Scene Face Melter, I'll probably change my tune and order that one.

    ;)

Wow. I'm impressed. I've yet to build my first pedal. But I don't think I'd be brave enough to start with that. Have a demo vid of it by chance? Would love to see/hear what it can do.

EDIT: Just saw some demo vids on the website. Checking them out now.

Ahh the famous ’none more black’ board!

I have never bought a pedal because it looked cool but some of the best sounding pedals I own are also the coolest looking. Moollons happen to be both:

Never. I have not purchased pedals because they were butt fugly. In fact, I think the art designs on most pedals suck and obscure the control labels. Give me simple: solid color, name, well marked control labels.

I don't know what that does. But I want it.

Everytime I see those I'm impressed.

I bought a Dazatronyx (local Aussie brand) Mintdrop (fuzz face) recently mostly because of the enclosure which looks incredible. Ive had a few of their pedals so I was pretty confident it would be good and it was even better than I expected

Waahhh? Um...nope. I own pedals that I don't find very nice in the looks department, but sound fantastic (Strymon DIG), but I don't think the OP is alone in this regard.

The good news is it's a DIY job, so, I COULD buy some of that fancy Tolex and go for it.

See...now that's what I'm talking about. I have a delay I love and a couple I'm planning to buy as combos with other effects. The LAST thing I need is another delay. But how COOL is that?! Can you imagine busting that out at worship practice?

I generally prefer plain or painted cases myself. I wonder how much cheaper pedals would be if people just kept them basic? Of course, the Klon Centaur and KTR kinda blow that theory out of the water, but yeah.

There are definitely some pedals I would never buy because of offensive graphics. If I couldn't take it to worship practice or would feel embarrassed if anyone I know saw it, there's something wrong. Plenty of other pedals in the ocean of sound.
