    total opposite.

i usually try and figure out what a pedal is a clone of. then i buy a cheaper one and mod it, or just build my perfect one to get the same features.

if it is legitimately not a clone of anything (let's say, a digital pedal), that's when i drop the money on it.

I'm a sucker for sleek, understated pedals like the TC Spark, but I'm also a sucker for something that makes me laugh, like the Bad Monkey or a Snarling Dogs OD with lit up eyes, but, yeah, I'm quite capable of falling for a nice design. I've been debating getting one of these, in part because I like the color and graphics:

I bought the original Visual Sound H2O mostly on looks I think (I was young), but it’s also one of my favorite pedals ever.

A couple years ago I bought a pedal that I can’t even mention by name here.

Ok, yeah, but I waited until it was on sale - and it does a useful range for me from OD into Distortion. I wanted something dirtier than typical light OD and this does that for me.

and perhaps there is some irony?

I will admit that when using traditional pedals, I try to buy the whackiest colors possible, so as to make my board look as colorful as possible. I won’t buy a pedal I don’t really like because it’s a cool color. But if I’m having trouble deciding between two models of the same effect type, the crazier color will generally win.

Big Radiohead fan, and it's supposed to be a great comp, so Fender's "The Bends" seems appealing.

    Looks alone, this thing.

Nope. Actually I never give a second thought to how a pedal looks. If it doesn't sound good to me, I don't buy it Period.

I bought a EQD Aqueduct with the limited edition blue & green color scheme because they are so close to the Seattle Seahawks jersey colors.... I call the pedal the seahawkeduct

I have bought plenty of pedals with all black (mostly) graphic. Also pedals that feel like they are well built. I have never bought a JHS pedal, mostly because they are so light weight - stupid, right? I mean who wants the weight on the board...but it feels cheap to me, like I am buying a box of air. Maybe he has some with heft, but I never really went back after the first couple I picked up...

A design laser-printed on ordinary paper, then ironed on to the aluminum housing. Beyond simple, beyond easy.

    Oh, the pedal?
