I've read a number of good reports on a RAT run into a Vox amp. So I'm thinking of getting one for my AC15. I've seen the RAT2, the Turbo Rat, and the You Dirty Rat. Any thoughts on the differences? I'd be using it mostly for classic rock solos, maybe fuzzed out wah psychedelic freakouts. I've found you can get very demented with the Crybaby Classic and lots of gain.

Rat 2 is more compressed. Turbo is more open. I prefer the Turbo with Vox amps (ala Suede / Brit-Pop). Both will get you into the fuzz zone, but the Turbo stacks a little bit better if you do that type of thing. I will mention that the Hotcake is my overall preferred boost for Vox amps with the Rats as a close second. That said, I prefer the Rat with just about every other tone stack (Fender, Marshall, etc etc).

The site portrays the Turbo as wilder, which I like, but that might just be marketing.

The Turbo is simultaneously milder and wilder, I've found. For lower- to mid-gain applications the drive doesn't compress as much on pick attack, so the pedal feels more dynamic/open, but when hitting the strings hard it's fuzzier than the standard RAT.

Get a Mooer Black Secret, and you have a great example of both the Rat and the Turbo, in one tiny enclosure.

I modded my Rat to be standard and turbo. I also swapped chips and did all the other typical mods. It lives in turbo mode exclusively.

I have a Chicago Stompworks Mr. Vermin, a Rat 2 clone. It works great with the AC15. Cuts like a buzzsaw.

I gave my bandmate a YouDirtyRat for his birthday... he runs it through a clean AC15 and gets a really cool velcro-ey fuzz sound out of it.

I've got a Turbo Rat and a "regular" Rat on the board that I plug into my AC15-HW1.
    Love 'em both.

I use the plain ol' Rat for a solo boost with some hair on it and use it mostly with a bridge pickup.
I have the T-Rat set for smoother yet higher gain tone and use that for neck pickup soloing - kind of a "Santana-esque" setting.

I've also got a Dunlop/MXR Boost-Line Driver pedal on that board. That's the one I hit for that straight-ahead Vox overdrive.
With those 3 pedals, along with the volume and tone controls on my guitars, I can get pretty much any OD/Distortion tone that I need...or want.

You could also get a Deucerat and cover all your bases with one, 2-button pedal. ;)

I think the fine print excluded 2-in-1 pedals that are less than 2" across.

    Yep.
You find what works and you stick with it.
Sounds great, built like a tank, and not overly expensive. What's not to love?

The ENO Myomorpha is a clone of the Mooer at ~½ the price... and it's very good!

I got the Biyang Mouse. It does Rat, Rat2 & Turbo. Turbo is where mine is usually set, for medium-low gain stuff. The others are so much lower in output that I'd have to reset a dial somewhere else to use them. It likes tube amps. It did not write 5000 Candles in the Wind, that was Mouserat.

I can vouch for the Mooer. I went through several other RAT types before settling on that one. It has this nice filthy grind to it....
