    Let the Saga begin!!

Will it be deformed? Will the neck carve suit my fancy & downright impeccable tastes? Might there be a blemish somewhere? Will the shipping carrier smash it to bits? Am I jinxing it? Ooooh...The impending mystery has me on the edge of my seat!!!

I suppose if it's a real dud I can return it and get my $1800 bucks back.

'Twas 2016 the last time I bought a new Gibson and my dumb*** traded it in one day to buy a fancier guitar...that I didn't bond with. Ironically, both bought from CME, though the 2016 'bird was purchased in person, I miss that fiddle.

    Oh yeah, what kind?

    This kind:

    That's a good-looking guitar. I assume that's a 2019 ES-335 Dot P-90. Keep us informed when you get it.

    Will do, fingers crossed.

    Yep..."2019 LE Memphis ES-335 Dot P-90"

Funny thing is, Memphis closed shop in 2018, just another example of Big Guitar trying to pull a fast one on us consumers!!

I'd been drooling over it for a few weeks. I didn't have the funds when that CME "blowout" happened a couple years back when all these lucky folks got stuff like a Gloss Cherry ES-275 for $1700, damn, it still stings! So, when they did a price drop on this one I pulled the trigger.

If you'd bought one of those blowout guitars chances are if you didn't bond with it 6 months later you could walk into Guitar Center and they'd pay ya what you originally paid for it!

I got my 2018 satin gold LP Tribute online from CME via Amazon. Arrived in perfect condition. IIRC CME included a sign-off card. Pretty sure they set it up. Because it was set up.

I've bought two Gibson's sight unseen. The first was a Les Paul Historic with P-90's. I had the local shop do some fine tuning and I still have it to this day. The other was an SG Naked, natural finish with P-90's getting blown out. The tuners were crooked and it had 24 frets. It played well and sounded great but I'm picky enough that it bothered me, so it went back.

Good luck with yours. That looks really nice!

I think you'll be fine. Gibson really seems to have grasped that they need to be as consistent and reliable as PRS, and I think they've got a lot vested in accomplishing this in the here and now. As for the dealer -- hopefully they'll handle it well if it needs setup. But shipping... now there's the rub. Honestly, 90+% of the bashing I read about is caused by individually-packed/shipped stuff, not by maker/dealer packed shipments. Good luck.

That was definitely part of my decision making process as I searched around a bit before pulling the trigger.

I hope it'll sound decent enough but ya never know. It's just a regular production dot ES335 but minus binding w/p90's.

I'm a fan of "try before buy" but sometimes the stuff I like is quirky enough circumstances prevent me from trying one first because you just can't find it nearby.

Yeah, IMO a PRS is built like a rock so the necks don't move as much and the nuts/design are more dummy proof & solid like a Fender. I don't mind adjusting the truss rod or working the nut a hair as I do that to most any guitar I've ever bought regardless and I understand the traditional Gibson designs don't lend themselves to uber-stability..just like old Martins/Guilds/etc.

Meanwhile, my strat gets thrown onto the coffee table, into the corner, backseat, and hits the mic stand every so often as that sucker will survive almost anything. Different horses for different courses!
