It's become much more difficult to find bargains on the FM 25R and Champion 110. I want to pick up a second one, and a third, if I can find the right price.

Right now, I'm having a lot of fun using the line out of my X2 head into the 110 as a second amp, using the 110's real spring tank for verb with no verb on the X2, or a mix.

I used to have a Princeton 65 that sounded so good that after I got it I started taking it to rehearsals and gigs 'cause it was a lot lighter than my PV Classic 30.

An amp that does it for you is an amp that does it for you. Most, if not all, of us have gotten wrapped up in the notion that if it ain't tube it ain't good or it needs to be a VOX or a Marshall or Fender or something and, if you have any one of those you gotta play music from approved bands associated with that amp.

I got a Roland Cube 80x in maybe 2009 or so. Since then, I've bought several amps that had forum stamps of approval. I've also sold every one of them. ...but the Cube 80x stayed.

Still have it to this day. It isn't my only amp though. Since my horse trading days, I figured out what I wanted. I got a late 50's Gibson tweed GA-20T that was fit for the fire pile and had a custom amp built with the chassis and cabinet. Also picked up a VOX AC15HW1 for a second tube amp. ....but I think the Cube will be with me for the foreseeable future. I can get VERY close to my tube amps' sounds with it. Is it identical? No. Does it sound good? Yes.

I still have my old Deluxe 112, bought new in '95 or so to pair with my Am Std Tele. Sounded good then, and later on when the OE speaker was replaced with a Jensen C12N. Great classic Fender spring reverb and Fender tone. It compared favorably to a DRRI I bought several years later, but I moved on to tube amps, and gave the little D112 away to my niece.
Close to 10 years later it was returned to me in nearly the same shape, save for some cat claw digs on the speaker grill. I thought to install a SCXD chassis in it and I stripped it out to do so. But I thought better of it and reassembled it as is. It's a great clean sound with a character all its own.
My little D112 has its place in my collection of amps, as a fine example of 90s US-made solid state Fender amplification.

There's a 25 for 50 bucks in my area on CL.

Problem is, it's red...photo stinks...and it's just listed as good condition.

U need to turn down bass and treble and turn up mids to taste w the stock speaker. A Rajin Cajun makes the eq adjustments unnecessary. I like the mini spring reverb mounted on the board. Sounds fine to me at 2-4.

I believe the circuit is the same as the old Japanese Sidekick, but w a cheaper hifi line speaker. Those are highly regarded.

That’s like you got the amp for free!

Where? eBay?

And for clean, did you try our EQ recommendations?

Like 2-10-3.

Bought it some other auction website. The speaker really puts out some bottom end. I did try out 2-10-3 and that seems to sound fine. Wonder what the original speaker sounded like in comparison and if that EQ was even more necessary with that?

It was sure necessary when I had the stock Fender speaker in mine!

Changing those settings was the only reason I decided to upgrade the speaker and change the reverb tank, in that I saw the amp's potential.

I always enjoyed my 25R stock. But then we gotta play with everything here don’t we. Looking at buying another, as the kid I’d sold my old one to won’t give it up. Hope I can find another for inexpensive.
