I tell you, if Jeff Beck ever puts that Strat down and picks up a Tele again, there will be no doubt who the best Tele player is. But his style of playing requires him to use the whammy bar in conjunction with the volume knob in unison, most of the time. So I will go with Brad Paisley
did you ever hear Jeff talk about how he stole his tele from his manager?
in the video Live at Ronnie Scotts, Jeff explains how he went to see his manager and in the office was a guitar case and you guessed a tele inside, Jeff picks it up and starts playing it and when the manager enters the office and tells Jeff to put it down as it it intended for another client , jeff proclaims "No, its not its for me" throws 300 pounds at his manager grabs the guitar and takes off with it. he shows his personal guitar collection in the video quite interesting to watch
Jim Campilongo! I realize that this video is from 2016 but plays this spot weekly with this same lineup (though admittedly I've never seen him I'm just a fan). But man he kills it and has such a unique style.
So many wonderful Tele players, but if I have to pick...Jim Campilongo. Bill Frissell runs a close second.
Shocked that no one suggested this:
Check out this show after a 3 plus year break from the band, 3 shows into the current tour with one rehearsal session before first show. 5.15 minutes marks the lead break. The playing in the song that follows is pretty off the charts too.
Michael "Olga" Algar
alright then... never took the time to check out J5. Dude can play!
Hmmmm Boston centric Duke Levine
