I was impressed with the old VW Phaeton from the early 2000s, it had a pop-up dehumidifier device which was effective in preventing the windows from fogging.

Ever had anyone mistake that thing for a garbage dumpster and fill it full of trash?

I don't try things that I have no interest in buying. Cars , guitars, food, whatever.

Actually, that's kind of nice if you live anywhere that you might get in and out of a car with snowy shoes. It'll melt in the mats, and then refreeze, and then melt again later when it's above freezing outside and look like it rained in your car.

I haven't seen a phaeton in a long time, but the near-the-door spaces in our building always have the latest and greatest. There were a few of them in the early 2000s, but not many. Lots of now defunct oddballs like Fiskers, weird Jags (when jags started to not look like jags), a few bentleys (boring), etc.

Thankfully not, but I suspect I might if it was a new Mercedes.

I'm not a car guy, so unless it could fly or turned into a giant robot I'd have to go with no.

The Phaetons are the best looking VW I've ever seen and are relatively cheap on the used market. But they are discontinued and the VW parts and service ecosphere is generally not as cheap and widespread as say, Ford and GM.

Wouldn't even consider owning a Mercedes.

If it doesn't cost you anything: GO FOR THE DRIVE! Then stop at the guitar store and spend 1/100 of that and feel good about your self control.

Which would you rather own, that Merc, or this?

    Reasonably priced at £72,000.
