I used to make some bodies and necks from scratch and still love all manner of woodworking.
For guitars I assemble from parts now, but do plenty of routing or modding of parts and apply finishes, basically best and cheapest is the goal, while partial disability makes work harder.

Here is my most recent assembly, got another on the way.
Ultralights are now needed if I want to play them standing.

Welcome! I've only assembled guitars but I understand the drive to build one from scratch. All the best on your journey toward luthiery.

I always called them mbiras, but maybe that's just what they call them in one part of one country in Africa (Zimbabwe I think? Maybe Botswana?).

I'm intrigued about your ultra-lights. It's off-topic for this thread I guess, but if you want to tell us more about that either right here or via DM I'm all ears. What do you do to reduce the weight? Does it cause neckdrop (I think they call it?) or other balance issues in the finished guitar? I like the look of the guitar in the pic you posted.
