I do not own Whiteguards or Blackguards from OC Duff. But I got a custom version of his Buckaroos, with slight overwind on bridge pickup and very little potting. They are very sensitive and it has loads of character. The neck pickup is average to good. It sounds like a vintage late 50's Tele neck pickup, but I think I want something more like a Charlie Christian.

WaylonFan76 has some "Guardsman" pickups. you might send him a PM if he doesn't comment.

I have an O.C. Duff Big Boy neck pickup. Sounds great and sounds just like he described it on the website.

I already had a SD Jerry Donohue or I would have probably purchased the Plankster.

Owen is a great guy to deal with. A good product and good customer service.

I forgot to include that Owen was an absolute pleasure to do business with and extremely prompt on email correspondence. I will definitely buy from him again in the future.

My experience with Owen also was that he was a very nice guy, very knowledgeable and helpful...but the "Nancy" bridge pup I got from him just didn't do it for me in the Baja I put it in. It wasn't bad by any stretch, it just wasn't what I was after (or just didn't agree with that articular guitar). I was really bummed that it didn't work out, but the fella I sold it to when I replaced it seems to love it, so there ya go. YMMV, of course, and based on my dealing with Owen, I'd recommend him. I think mine was either just that one in 100 that was "meh" or like I said, it just didn't get along with that Baja. I dunno.

+1 for Owen and OC Duff pups. He made a neck pickup for me giving me exactly what I was looking for.

I was just marveling at my Guardsman neck pickup last night. That's the only Duff product I have, but I wish I had more Teles so I can have more Duff pups. And Owen is indeed the nicest and most helpful guy I've dealt with. Just all-around greatness, in my personal experience.

I got a set of Special Stocks from Owen some time ago. The neck pickup is superb and very useable. The bridge is wound to 7k+ and does it all, including the twang. You tell him what you want and he will guide and advise you.

I have an OC Duff "Plankster" in the bridge with an OC Duff "Tall Boy" in neck position of this Mark Jenny-aged partscaster.

Usually the best things in life take time.

That's cute but in reality, I just don't want to wait that long for a set of pickups. I stopped buying Don Mare pickups for that very same reason.

I can order a set of pickups from David Allen, Jason Lollar, Lindy Fralin or several other boutique pickup winders who can all get me the pickups I need in just a few days. So why on earth would I want to wait 8 weeks for a set of pickups?

I've got 2 sets of Owens Pickups. (Blackguards and Plankster/Bigboy combo) I don't think it took 8 weeks to get either set but I wouldn't have minded a the wait. I did want to try the Ron Ellis Broadcasters but he wanted the money up front and wait times were about a year and a half last time I checked. Jason and Lindy make fine products as well and I have their sets in teles. I love buying budget teles (Squier CV's etc.) and experimenting with different pups. I'm probaly going to check out D Allen's Colt 51s next.

Yes. My only complaint was that it took about 8 weeks to get them. Apparently, Mr. Duff winds them very s-l-o-w-l-y.

My Big Boy showed up in about two weeks. But at eight weeks I hope it's because he's real busy. Owen is a great guy.

Sorry you had to wait.:(

Did we ever figure out if that's you putting the knife in the wall socket?
