    Hello fellow tele lovers!
please excuse the sub par english it is after all a second language for me...

I love tele twang: the mid sixties bakersfield-ish classic country:Merle, Buck, George Jones, etc. (Burton, Nichols,Don Rich, etc) I also like Pete Anderson (Dwight YoAkam).

And allthough I'll never be able to afford boutique class A amps like Paisley, I like his tone...

To me the ultimate "tele" tune/tone is "Oh Las Vegas": the Gram Parsons version with Burton on guitar...

I'm saying all of this to give you guys an idea of the sound I'm looking for...

    I'm shopping for new pickups...

My research on this site has me hesitating between these 3 makers...
What are your thoughts and experience with these makers?

    Customer service? tone?

Mojo vs improvement vs holistic cosmic minimal change (do boutique pu really make such a big difference?)

    thanks all for the help

Well spec wise, those pickups will do it. They also come in 64 Fender reissue guitars.

This brings me to a sub question...

A lot of the "bakersfield" P/u have raised D & G pole...(stagerred I believed they are called...) What difference does it make?

I read that those are only good with 7.25 radius neck? Is it true?

    I have a 7.25 neck but I'm thinking of a 9.5 in the future.

Im currently using sd alnico 2 pro, I like them but I find they lack a bit of character

My fretboard is a 10 inch radius, the pickups work just fine.

I switched from a 7.25 neck, the difference, it got a lot brighter, I mean a lot brighter.

Yanick, I have a Marc Rutters Tele with Peter Florrance pickups and it twangs all day long. I told Marc I was really interested in a "Bakersfield" sounding Tele, and IIRC he got Peter to make the bridge pickup a little more twangy than usual. I can definitely testify that Peter Florrance can make pickups that twang.

Btw, I am in Ottawa. If you want to hear the guitar, come on up.

You have a good problem, Yanick: which fantastic maker to choose. You'll end up with great pickups no matter what.

When I was deciding between two great pickup makers a couple years ago, I considered not only the pickups, but their communication, warranties, etc. I went with the maker that was most informative, and who offered to rewind the pickups at no cost if I wasn't satisfied.

To my fellow canuck in Ottawa: Work might lead me to Kanata pretty soon... I might take you up on that offer... Rutters: I ordered a bridge from them which I should be getting sometimes this week, can't wait to see (hear rather!) the difference it makes...

    Thanks a lot to everyone...

I also ordered an electronic kit from Rothstein guitars...

No, I'm not rich... I just quit smoking and I'm treating myself with the money i was smoking :)

What about Fender replacement p/u? Are they good or are they so-so and made in the far east with a Fender logo...
