I'm honestly not so much of a baseball fan....

I don't know if this will be Seattle's year but after all is said and done Baseball will not owe us a thing for 2007.
What an AMAZING RIDE!!!!!
I'll be bummed when it's over.
The stories this season are incredible!!!!

This Season 2007 has so far been one of the greatest I've ever witnessed.
"and down the stretch they come!"
People will be talking about 2007 for a long time.

"Baseball is the only true game." Babe Ruth

.....but have to agree Stan, this has been a great season. So many teams still in it, so many possibilities!

Predictions??

....for the series that starts today!

I'm going to say NY takes 2 of 3. Of course, that will mean the deficit is still 7 big games.

If they sweep--as I had earlier predicted--the Stanks could build on it and Boston could go into a tailspin.

This is one of those really pivotal series that only comes along every so often.

There will be no tailspin!!!The Sox have played over 600% ball all year. This is no fluke. They have a very strong team. Great starting pitching and the best bullpen in baseball, and not a bad schedule the rest of the way. The Yanks will have their hands full in the next 3 games. Chicago didn't roll over and play dead, they just got destroyed by a far better team!! The 2 best teams in Baseball without a doubt are the Sox and Angels. They have played each other close and I believe they are on a collision course. :D PS: Eric, as long as your making predictions ( again) didn't you predict the Yanks would be in 1st place by Aug 30th? :p

.....and I'm glad I was wrong! :)

However, I somewhat disagree with you about the ChiSox. That team has mailed it in for about a month or more now. Still, outscoring them 46-7 or whatever it was, that was danged impressive.

And I would love to see the Red Sox and the Angels in the AL championship, that'd be sweet.

Sure hope the BoSox keep it up...

Three thoughts about Game 1;
1. Terry Francona lost Game One; what a bonehead, Dice is serving up Meatballs and he let's him pitch the 7th, with the best Bullpen in The Majors.

2. J.D.Drew; this man is the epitome of mediocrity.
Please Theo package both Drew and Gagne for ANYTHING, prospects A-Ballers. I wish they'd designate this BUM for assignment. Knowing Boston Fans
I'd get this jerk a bodyguard - make that a platoon. If he goes 8/8 in the next two games with Grand Slams in each he's gonna STILL get boo'd out of Fenway Park.
Without question the worst aquisition Boston's EVER made.
Yes, worse than Danny Kater.
This BUM is gonna make more THIS YEAR than Ted Williams, Jimmy Foxx, Mel Ott, Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle made COMBINED in their ENTIRE illustrious careers. A single season FOR THIS:confused:
Bench this BUM.
Don't even play him for the rest of The Season.
It would be more satisfying watching one of The Kids from Pawtucket.
And that's being objective - without emotion.

3. Tito....again.
Tito You FINALLY put Bobby Keilty in when Manny goes down...
And then You pinch hit him with Hinske:D
Next to Ortiz and Lowell the HOTTEST bat on The Club:rolleyes:
Losing is part of The Game but the way Boston lost was STUPID.

J.D.Drew, I don't think I've despised ANYONE this much since Brain-Dead Drew Bledsoe played for The Patriots. I will rejoice when this guy finally gets the word to pack his bags and get out of The City Of Boston.
Who went after this guy in the first place? He should be terminated first thing this morning.

I like Terry Francona but he seems to suffer Manny like brain cramps. Game five vs. the yankees last year he waits until the bases are loaded before he brings in Jonathan Papelbon (left Craig Hansen in too long)in the eighth and the Sox get swept. Very good manager but he needs to work on how handles his bullpen. 162 games I expect everyone including the manager to make mistakes besides the Sox only need to win one, a sweep would have been nice but it was not a necessarily a must.

I am not at all surprised by J.D. Drew's performance. He has only had one very good year and that with Atlanta. I have no idea what Theo & Larry were thinking when he gave Drew all of that money and FIVE years. The Sox got with Drew what the yankees got when they signed Johnny Damon. Jacoby Ellsbury is going to put this guy out of a job if he dosen't get his act together. I saw the Sox play in July vs. CWS and after a two hour rain delay WM Pena played right field because they didn't want J.D. to hurt himself on the wet grass. He should be embarassed. Needs to go? Never should have come as far as I am concerned.

Josh Beckett vs. Roger Clemens tonight. Just like Mussina, the clock is ticking on The Rocket's groin and hamstring it is only a matter of time. He had a difficult time keeping the ball down in the strike zone against the Tigers and that was either just a bad night or a sign that the legs are going.

Clemens, Schilling, Mussina, & Johnson need to accept the idea of retirement because none of them can pitch a full season anymore. This is not a criticsm only a fact, it happens to EVERYONE. Nobody can get past Father Time. As a baseball fan it can be painful to watch once great players hang on a year or two to long.

Yep!!!
I'm saying it here and now; "Git out the dustpan because The Yankees are getting swept!!!"

....just thinkin' about all The New York LOSER Fans who are waiting to take this quotation and run with it has me giddy!!!
The Samaritans better call in extra operators!

"start spreading the news
they're gonna get swept
the biggest payroll in Baseball
is completely inept..."

The Bookies in New York will be jumping out of windows when this ends.
The Yankees will be just like that great breakfast favorite.
TOAST!

I'm not happy about the results of the 1st 2 games. Very frustrating that we ( Sox) can't take care of business. Well before the series started I thought, if the Sox win only one game that will be ok cause we'll still have a 7 game lead. Hope the Sox win tonight. There is one thing for sure, the Sox bring out the best in the Yanks!! The Yanks are getting great pitching, hard to beat that.

Look at the Yankee lineup and tell me you doubt them:

Johnny Damon- seasoned vet with clutch playoff experience and a World Series ring.
Jorge Pasada- solid catcher and clutch hitter.
Derek Jeter- need I say more?
A-Rod- nuff said!
Hidekie Matsui- if he gets hot now watch out!
Robinson Cano- seems to finally be taking things seriously and focusing as he should.
Melky Cabrerra- solid outfielder and hitter.
Andy Phillips- "hungry" best describes him.
DH- Jason Giambi- finally healthy and that's bad news for the Bosox.
DH- Shelly Duncan- another young hungry power hitter.

Pitchers:
Andy Petitte- hitting his stride.
Roger Clemens- hitting his stride.
Mike Mussina- needs a game off but will be back.
Chien-Ming Wang- maybe the one of best starters in MLB.

Relievers:
Joba Chamberlain- so far almost unhittable.
Mario Rivera- nothing need be said.
Luis Viscaino- solid reliever.

No, disagree strongly on this one point....

Chet, you very well may be right on every other point you made, but you're out of your mind on this one. Out of something like the last 250 pitches he's thrown, batters have not made contact EIGHT TIMES.

He has completely lost it, and it's probably as much mental as physical at this point.

And an 87-mph "fastball" that has no movement on it? Doesn't work at the major league level my friend.

You better hope he's not the one on the mound if/when it comes down put up or shut up time--the Yankees will be toast if they find themselves in that predicament. 9 guys from the TDPRI could probably light him up.
