(WARNING -- If you're not into Tweed Porn, this post probably ain't for you Well, it took it me a solid year, but I finally found my Big Box Fender Tweed Tremolux 5G9. A long-time Gear Pager made me a square deal and hooked me up via PM. I can't thank him enough for reaching out to me. Cheers DP! Here's to making a bucket list purchase come true -- She's pretty much all-original -- OT, PT, speaker. The exceptions are the handle, some caps, etc. -- tune-up stuff needed to be done so she can be PLAYED, not entombed in some stock broker's home vault or some equally evil such place The Jensen was toast, so I had one of L.A.'s finest go Kurt Mueller on the recone. Great call. Then I had my good friend Billy Yates (formerly of The Outlaws and owner/builder of Red Jones Amps) work her over and replace the only four original caps that weren't up to speed. Billy is one of So Cal's finest working on amps, and beyond that he's a RIDICULOUS player. Check out these two clips of him test-driving his handiwork on this amp -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ow3i-_Oor8w http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGr8g_vwIKI So that's the story. Tonight I'm sitting here with a vintage amp I've long wanted to own, having already driven both my GF and my cat outdoors by cranking some of my sloppiest Little Feat licks. Hey, it's good to be the King! One more sincere thanks to DP, Billy and Leo Fender. Without 'em, I wouldn't even be writing this post.
